What is the central theme of the speaker's message?
-The central theme of the message revolves around love, spirituality, and the concept of one's state in relation to Allah. The speaker emphasizes that everything in creation has a purpose and a state with Allah.
How does the speaker define the 'state' in a spiritual context?
-In the spiritual context, 'state' refers to one's current condition or level of spiritual awareness. The speaker suggests that states can vary, such as being up or down spiritually, and that everything in creation has its own state with Allah.
What was the significance of the story about the drunk man in Baghdad?
-The story highlights the concept of spiritual states. The drunk man, despite his physical state, was able to communicate spiritually with Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani. This teaches that even those in a low state can rise, and those in a high state can fall.
Why did the murids (followers) react negatively to the drunk man shouting 'Ya Abdul Qadir'?
-The murids reacted negatively because they saw it as disrespectful for a drunk man to address their Sheikh in such a manner. They were focused on outward etiquette (adab), not realizing the spiritual depth of the encounter.
How did Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani interpret the drunk man's questions?
-Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani interpreted the drunk man's questions on a spiritual level. The first question was about whether Allah could take him out of his drunken state, the second was about whether Allah could make him one of His friends, and the third was about whether Allah could elevate him to the Sheikh's station.
What lesson does the story of the drunk man teach about spiritual elevation?
-The story teaches that spiritual elevation is possible for anyone, regardless of their current state. It shows that someone in a low state (such as intoxication) can rise spiritually with the help of Allah, while those in a high state must remain humble as they can also fall.
Why did Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani weep after the third question from the drunk man?
-Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jilani wept because he understood the deep spiritual significance of the drunk man's third question, which asked if Allah could grant him the Sheikh's own spiritual station. This moved the Sheikh, as it revealed the man's spiritual potential.
What does the story suggest about the difference between physical and spiritual states?
-The story suggests that physical appearances can be deceptive in the spiritual realm. While the drunk man appeared to be in a degraded state physically, his spiritual state allowed him to ask profound questions that the murids could not even comprehend.
How does the speaker use the concept of 'rising and falling' in spirituality?

What is the overall message the speaker wants to convey about spiritual states?
-The overall message is that spiritual states are dynamic, and everyone, regardless of their current state, has the potential for spiritual growth. The speaker emphasizes humility, as even those who are elevated can fall, while those in low states can rise with Allah's grace.

um I went to uh ziker last week and the
reminder was such a beautiful story I'll
share it with you guys
about
Jani and it link comes back to the point
of State what is one
state um so in Bagdad Sharif they were
walking with marides on their way to the
D to the D in Bagdad Shar and as they're
walking there's a there's a drunk man
stood against the wall leaning being
held up by the
wall and as they're approaching with
their
mids he's he kind of falls off the wall
and he's about to stumble forward so as
he's as he comes off the wall he
stumbles forwards the mid grab him and
kind of push him back and prop him back
up against the
wall and
then they arrive at that point so as he
sees them he sees the m and then he sees
sayani and this drunk one he shouts out
yd
Allah and the marids are just stunned
thinking how how how dare you what kind
of ad is this for our Sheik not only our
Sheikh but the the one whose foot is on
the neck of
everybody as if you as if he doesn't
know of course he knows but he's in such
a state the mids are thinking what kind
of adab is this how dare you so s
ABD as they're passing they stop they
turn to him and they say Allah
and they continue walking they walk a
few steps and the man
shouts yd

again they stop they turn back they turn
around face him and they
said and they turn and they carry on
continue walk walking they continue
walking and then for the third time the
man
shouts and this time as he hears that
say ABD gani starts to
tremble they start to
tremble and they
stop and their eyes well up with tears
and they face him and they say
Allah and they Rush from that moment
onwards they Rush to the D they enter
the D and they s in the D in
tears and the mid asked them
yah what is this state what happened
what why are you in tears we've never
seen you like
this and he says oh my
mids what what you heard and what you
saw is from the realm of the physical
but what I saw was from the realm of the
spiritual the first time he asked me Y
abdad is
Allah that's what you heard but he was
speaking to me
spiritually and he asked me yah
Abdul
Yark is Allah capable of taking me out
of this drunked drunked state I said yes
of course
the second time he asked me yd is Allah
that's what you
heard but what he actually asked me was
yah
Abdul is Allah capable of making turning
me from this day into one of his
friends he says of course
Allah and then the third
time what he asked me was y Abdul
is Allah capable of taking me removing
me from this state and granting me your
station the station of from the beloveds
of
Allah Allah without doubt so there's
many many lessons in that Subhan Allah
what do we
see straight away they showing us that
what is down of course it can rise and
equally what is risen can also fall the
higher you rise the lower you fall the
lower you are alhamdulillah the higher
you can
rise Subhan Allah and then
uh
States they then went to that man and
later on they discovered that what he
said was or what he was saying was that
when I uh when I
when I'm
intoxicated I forget the dun I
disconnect from The Dun and then I'm
just in a disconnected State and from
that disconnected State he was able to
spiritually talk
to jilani in a different manner that
such that the marids those who who are
the marids these are people of
spirituality they could not had not even
reached that station where they could
understand let alone speak and see uh
the realities of spirituality Subhan
Allah and what does it show us it shows
us another thing that
states everything has a state like we
have a state sometimes we're up
sometimes we're down in the morning
we're down and well up and then by the
evening we're down on a Thursday
alhamdulillah we're all up and on a
Wednesday maybe when we're playing
football we're in a different state
not quite like this state but
alhamdulillah it's all good it's all
good
