buy so in today's video I want to make a

video that I can point you all towards

now what we're actually going to do is

we're going to go through various

different budgets we're going to start

£500 go up to £ 750 then 1,000 and then

£1,500 and onwards and I'm going to

describe the kit that I would buy given

each budget now importantly it's the kit

I would buy I don't know you personally

I don't know what you do I don't know if

you shoot Wildlife port traits video

photos macro so you're still going to

have to have a little bit of a think

about what you require yourself but this

is my advice on what I would buy at each

price point and also because I've made

lots of reviews on the channel as we go

and I'm talking about the gear I'll

share some of the reviews that I've made

on screen and put the links down in the

description so you can actually see what

they were like when I was using them

time now with a £500 budget it should go

further than it does Fujifilm has has a

bit of a problem at the minute that the

used camera prices have just gone a

little bit mad now I think first of all

let's talk lenses because I think when

it comes to lenses and the budget end

there is two very clear options first of

all if you want to go with a prime lens

because you know what focal length you

like the fui cron so the Fuji F2 primes

are really the way to go these are small

compact lenses they are cheap and they

are weather sealed and the autofocus

stands up even today if you want a zoom

lens I do think the best zoom lens at

the low end of the budget is the kit

lens it feels really mean calling it a

kit lens because this 50 to 55 mil f/2.8

to F4 lens is actually very very good

it's also got image stabilization built

into the lens which is going to be

really helpful because none of the cheap

cameras at the low end of this budget

are going to have Ibis so it gives you a

little bit of stabilization that you're

not going to be able to get from a

camera I think importantly then once you

picked a lens you're left with around

about £300 to spend and when it comes to

that 300 to spend on a body you are

super limited hit I think you have the

xt100 that you should be able to pick up

pretty easily this is a more typical

camera it's newish it's going to feel a

little bit old still but importantly it

has a SEMO sensor not an xtran sensor

which Fuji is well known for so you

might not get that Fuji look that you've

seen online the other camera at this

lower price point is probably the xe1 I

think you can pick up one of these again

these are going to feel pretty old

they're not going to fill that up to

date alternatively ditch the lens and

spend all 00 on an X100 series camera

X100 series cameras are going to have a

fixed lens you can't change it in the

future but these are part of that really

popular line of cameras at the minute

they're small Rangefinder styled and

they're all round pretty good travel

cameras and everyday cameras I think if

you're looking at the X100 line you

should be able to get an x100f or an

x100s within this £500 price bracket now

I think really at this £500 price point

I have two bits of advice one of them is

shop around on eBay and Facebook Market

Place watch it like a hawk because

Bargains still come up you just need to

be the first person to see them I think

the second thing for me that stands out

is if you can save just a little bit

more money and move up to the next price

bracket the amount of cameras you can

buy suddenly becomes way way vaster and

you can get some really capable

cameras so let's move on then to a 750

budget it doesn't sound all that

different really but you have far more

options now now when it comes to lenses

I think my previous advice is still

right go for the kit Zoom or a Fuji Chon

lens so that you now have a decent

budget for a better camera going with

the logic earlier that that's going to

set you around about 200 back buying a

lens you now have £500 to spend on a

camera I think for the best all round of

them with your £550 budget is going to

be an xt3 and the xt3 is this kind of

staple answer of M if someone comes and

asks me what Fuji camera they should buy

I just tell them the xt3 it is an

exceptionally good allrounder at a

pretty good price point because it has a

more traditional kind of styling to it

it isn't one of the overly hyped cameras

at the minute and the x-t line of

cameras generally are going to be your

best bang for buuck option and give you

the most versatility if you want video

and photo and you want to shoot some

sports and then do a bit of Wildlife and

a bit of portraits these are going to be

the best option for you if you're

struggling to get an xt3 there is still

the xt2 as an option as well I do think

personally there was a pretty big step

change between the X xt2 and the xt3

things like continuous autofocus got

noticeably better between the two and

the main disadvantage of the xt3 over

the xt4 basically just comes down to

Ibis now a lot of people can probably

get away of not needing Ibis at all I

would understand why some would want

Ibis it's very good for runand gun video

or for slowing down with some

photography and if you do want Ibis

unfortunately in this price bracket

you're going to really struggle and

you're going to have to wait and hold

off for the next one away from the XT

line then and onto the X pro line you

can actually now buy an X pro one now

the X pro 1 importantly is the

rangefinder styled camera with

changeable lenses as well and this is

why lots of people love it this

Rangefinder styling the classic feel to

it unfortunately with the X pro 1 it is

getting old now I think the X pro 1 has

been out for 11 or 12 years at this

point so anything that you pick up is

starting to age and if anything goes

wrong there's a chance you won't be able

to replace stuff I've also just noticed

one of my favorite food film cameras is

available in this price bracket and that

is the Fujifilm xe3 the Fujifilm xe3 is

like a rangefinder styled camera it

hasn't evf it's quite small and Compact

and this is the big selling point when

it comes to Specs it's really easy to

compare cameras when it comes to things

like 4K or not 4K but when it comes to

size things are really hard to kind of

get a grasp of how much value you'll get

out of them importantly for me I always

think you need to pick a camera that

you're actually going to want to use it

doesn't matter how good the spec are if

it's big cumbersome and you don't want

to use it what's the point and maybe for

a lot of people the XE line of cameras

might actually be the answers

unfortunately it doesn't have things

like weather ceiling I think they've

only got one card slot so they're not so

professional in some ways but definitely

an interesting

Prospect next up then let's talk about

£1,000 and 1,000 feels like the sweet

spot in the Fujifilm lineup because

you've got lots of camera options you

can also start to play around with some

lenses as well let's assume you stick

with the Fuji Kon lenses or that kit

Zoom you now have £800 to spend on a

camera now if you're somebody who is

shooting like hybrid which means you're

taking photos and video I think the two

cameras I would consider here are the

xt4 or even the xt3 because there wasn't

too much difference other than Ibis or

maybe even the xs10 now the main

difference between the xt4 and the xs10

the xt4 prioritizes some more of the pro

features like weather ceiling and dual

card slots and the xs1 ditches some of

that for a generally newer camera and

also some smaller size as well have a

look at both of them and see which one

you prefer if you want something small

and compact we spoke about the xe3

earlier you can now buy the xe4 now the

xc4 is one of these super hyped cameras

at the minute if you go on eBay you'll

see people wanting like the best part of

two grand for them these cameras aren't

selling if you have a proper look

through there you'll find some for under

£1,000 I'm sure the xe4 is a much newer

version of the xc3 it's got the better

sensor and things like that but the xc3

like we said earlier does have more

physical controls and if you like that

feel of your camera then maybe the xe3

is a better option moving on to the X

pro line you still can't again X Pro 3 x

Pro 3 is are typically going to be

around 1,000 to 12200 so if you want to

factor in a lens that's actually in the

next price bracket but importantly you

can actually buy my favorite camera the

Fuji X Pro 2 in some ways I prefer this

camera over the X Pro 3 partly because

it's half the price I paid £650 for this

but it also has a fixed screen the X Pro

3 had like a reversible one and depends

on whether you're going to like that or

not this also has some slightly better

viewfinder features as well so yeah the

X Pro 2 is actually my favorite Fujifilm

camera and it falls under this category

like I said I paid £650 for this which

means I'm now got

£350 to spend on a lens now if you are

going to spend a little bit more on a

lens and you talking about the prime

lenses you could now try one of Fuji's

older f1.4 lenses now the downside with

these lenses is the fact that the

autofocus isn't all that great on them

and it is audible as well so if you're

going to be shooting video you'll

actually hear the lens focusing which is

super frustrating and kind of rules it

out but if you're only doing photography

using one of these f1.4 old Fuji primes

will actually give you a look that you

haven't been able to achieve yet and is

definitely something worth considering

or alternatively if you already have one

of the Fuji conon lenses and you're

enjoying it and you think maybe I'd like

another one of these try a different

focal length my personal favorites when

it comes to prime lenses and the

Fujifilm lineup is the 18 mil F2 which

I've gotten here now it's a really nice

focal length it's not the best lens in

the world but I like the focal length

and then also factoring that in

alongside the 35 mil F2 as well you end

up with two very nice lenses that cover

the full frame equivalent of a 28 mil

and a 50 mil which is a super versatile

set of

lenses

next up then we hit the £500 and onwards

part and I think it's easier at this

point if I just go through some of my

favorite Fujifilm gear even if it's

expensive now first up then we have the

XT line of cameras I do think the xt3

and xt4 are probably The Sweet Spot in

this lineup from a value point of view

but the xt5 does have a new 40 megapixel

sensor in it and if you're somebody who

likes to crop or might want to print at

really big sizes then maybe you can get

some value out of the xt5 one downside

for me with the xt5 is the fact it

doesn't have a flippy screen because it

doesn't have a flippy screen it's really

hard for me to make YouTube videos like

I am now because I just can't see and

frame myself and for that reason then I

actually own the X H2S the x2s I think

is the ultimate hybrid camera that Fuji

offer the downside with this is the fact

it has a very traditional mirrorless

design it doesn't have all the physical

controls of a typical Fuji camera it

kind of ditches them and just goes for

out right performance it also has a

price tag to match but on the used

Market you can almost get them half

price now which seems absolutely Bonkers

from an X pro point of view I mentioned

earlier I actually prefer the X Pro 2

over the X Pro 3 the X Pro 3 is in

budget at this point it has got a

backwards screen now some of you are

going to love it some of you are going

to hate it that screen is also known to

break quite often because of the ribbon

cables that's something to watch out for

but personally I would buy an X Pro 2

but I could see why if you love that

kind of reverse screen design of the X

Pro 3 that maybe that would be your

option X100 wise you can now get an X100

V if you want a little bit like the xc4

earlier avoid the hype there is some

very hyped up prices I think you can

still find them for a reasonable price I

think my biggest watch out and advice

for the X100 line is I think as soon as

we see a new one and if rumors are to be

leaved it might be in the next month or

so that we'll see these used prices

plummet so if you go out and buy a

camera for well over list price now in a

month's time you might be finding

yourself wishing that you hadn't because

the prices might drop or you might have

been able to go out and buy a brand new

one that's a lot better so X100 wise

definitely watch out for that at the

minute another camera that I've used

recently that I really enjoyed using was

the xs20 the xs20 is a little bit like

the X H2S just dialed back a little bit

from a price point it actually has the

same sensor in it as the previous

generation xt4 but has a lot of the

video specs of the xh2 the main

downsides with it really is it doesn't

fall in this like Pro Line of cameras so

it's not weather sealed and it doesn't

have dual card slots so depending on

what you use it for it might be suitable

it might not next up then let's talk

lenses with this bigger budget because I

think this is where things that get very

interesting as well I think even if you

had an unlimited budget the F2 Fuji

crons are still something to consider

they are small they are compact they are

reasonably fast to F2 they are weather

sealed and the autofocus is surprisingly

good and because of their cheap price

point you could EAS buy a collection of

them at a ready reasonable rate then we

move on to the newer f1.4 primes now

these lenses are just incredible lenses

they are fast they are sharp they are

weather sealed they are like perfect

lenses the downside to them is they're

imperfect price they tend to be pretty

expensive and they are also a little bit

on the larger side so if you're picking

one of the smaller cameras even like an

X Pro 2 or X Pro 3 sometimes it will

feel like rather than having a prime

lens on your camera it will feel a

little bit like you've got a zoom from a

third party perspective there's also a

couple of interesting choices I would

definitely consider the V Tru 23 mil and

75 mil f1.2 I've done reviews on both of

them they're pretty cheap lenses

optically they're great they're super

fast the downside again is they're a

little bit big but they are super

affordable Zoom wise one of my most used

zooms is the 16 to 55 mil f2.8 this is

one of like the pro lenses that Fuji

released right at the start so one of

the good things is even though they're

very expensive new if you look on the

used Market there's quite a lot of them

and sometimes you can come across them

at a good price the reason I really like

the lens is the fact that well been

using it now it's still good for video

even though it's old the autofocus is

great optically it's great it's fast it

is a really versatile focal length the

downsides really are the fact that it is

reasonably expensive it's Big And Chunky

this is the one that probably GRS on me

most there is however now a sigma

alternative you lose a little bit of

range I think it's 18 to 50 mil it's

still f 2.8 it's far smaller but it's

not weather sealed and optically I don't

think it's quite as good but definitely

is a good alternative the other zoom

lens that I absolutely love is the 70 to

300 it doesn't seem like a great lens

from the outside it has a variable

aperture it's a little bit plasticky but

it is weather sealed and importantly it

is really small for the focal range that

it offers the fact I can take a

reasonably small lens and put it in a

small shoulder bag but have enough range

to do like Wildlife photography is

something I really appreciate I'm a lot

more casual when it comes to Wildlife

photography so I don't want like a huge

great big Zoom having a small compact

one that can still get the good image is

more valuable to

me now as I said at the start of this

video importantly I don't know you I've

done this whole video based on me

personally and my own personal use case

so if yours is completely different to

me you do something completely different

you might not like the cameras I do you

still need to think this through

yourself I think my general advice is to

watch out for the hype cameras and

especially the hyped up prices because a

lot of the time they're not really

selling for this price if you hunt

around you will find them cheaper the

X100 line of cameras in particular right

now is super hyped and it feels likely

that we're about to get a new one in the

very near future and the prices could

tumble and you might find yourself

spending a lot of money over list for a

camera that will be old soon and you

might be able to go and buy a better one

for a cheaper price off the shelf I

think the other General thing here is

that the XT line of cameras is almost

always going to be your best bang for

buck if you don't really know what you

want from your photography and you just

want like a general purpose camera the

xt2 xt3 xt4 cameras are probably the

best choice to give you a little bit of

a feel of what you want and if you

realize then that you want a smaller

camera go for the XE if you want more

classical controls maybe go for the X

pro but the XT line is probably the

camera that I would recommend if you're

not really sure what you want and

importantly don't stretch your budget at

the end of the day cameras are cameras

and all cameras are pretty good these

days it is really hard to go out on by a

bad camera if you're not too sure if

it's worth spending thousands then don't

go and buy a normal priced camera that's

far more affordable have fun with it

because at the end of the day people

were taking pictures with cameras way

worse than anything we've spoken about

20 years ago but they were still selling

prints still putting big things up on

the wall still selling to magazines with

cameras that now just don't even stand a
