so you would say France and the host of

haven't you he didn't say it with the

sound the way we would say with you

right but he drops the T here T is

silent actually so what we hear is

want to explain what a tag question is

yeah it's something that seemingly is

unnecessary right you could just take it

off and have the question mark but we

sort of do it to add a little bit of

extra emphasis when the initial part of

the question is positive then you need a

negative question tag and if the initial

part is negative then you need a

positive question tag so um we could

change this for example to you've not

been to France have you mhm cuz Fashion

what I thought so we actually have two

chunks here I don't know and what I

thought I um I was going to the gym cuz

I was trying to like run off the jet lag

I walk in and there's a model like a

like a real one so the jet lag is that

feeling of um tiredness uh when you

cross several time zones so you either

feel sleepy or you're not sleepy at all

because of this change of time zones but

what does it mean to run off the jet lag

yeah that's a really nice expression

that she used there if you run off

something it means that you are

basically running to try to remove that

thing so in the same way that a lot of

people might try to run off after they

might try to run off a big meal in this

case she was trying to do some exercise

to reduce this feeling of tiredness that

the jet L caused I walk in and there's a

model like a real one

racehorse would run so she's describing

a situation that happened to her back in

Paris but why does she use here present

indefinite I walk in and there's a model

as if it's it's happening right now we

often do this when telling a story to

markers she uses she uses like a lot in

explain this and it's not something that

you want to abuse when you speak but it

is a way for you to sound more natural

and also to give yourself a little bit

of space to think as you're speaking

like six like I don't know 80 M an hour

probably I can do that so she's top

speed top speed and not breathing heavy

at all she's like

80 miles an hour that is incredibly fast

that would be top

speed I think it's maybe 120 km per hour

or something like that something like

that that's hard to imagine that a model

runs like that without a heavy breath

without heavy breathing and top speed

that means as fast as a person can go or

as fast as a car can go that's its top

speed the maximum

speed and I'm on the elliptical which is

it's kind of like that's the lazy

person's running machine isn't it and I

hate it and you can see in my face that

imagine this is another trainer machine

and a treadmill and she even does the

motion here with the arms that people

pretty this is even sort of a playful

way the language can be used is if you

say that someone's a handsome woman it

can kind of give them more masculine

qualities or if you say that it's a

pretty man it can give them more

feminine qualities so that can happen

but if you made that mistake without

meaning to then mhm maybe for the person

that could feel that it's a strange

compliment if you call a man pretty or a

woman handsome okay she says I swear and

again she uses the present indefinite

tense here and she just want to

intensify uh like how funny or how weird

the situation can be and she asks them

to believe she asked the host to believe

her words right right emphasizing that

you're not lying this really happened

right mhm when you are leaning over what

are you doing so if you lean it's people

watching it's like this sort of motion

right so you can imagine generally

treadmills have these two bars on the

side that's that you can grab on to you

know if you lost your balance or

something so you can imagine that both

of them are in treadmill so maybe

they're leaning over the bars to come

lot too in the negative to say oh it's

not a big deal so for example let's say

that important it was my pleasure yeah I

I I also think that it's mostly using

this negative um form you could also say

that someone is a big deal like nowadays

rubber ducks are those cute small yellow

ducks right and the race is actually the

competition yeah who gets first do you

different costumes and so on that you

can buy we have one here in Barcelona

don't have it here but I saw a couple of

them yeah they look really nice so it

could be good for a race to go to one of

the lesson but I remember there was this

very funny situation when the tank was

like collapsed or something on the sea

or in the ocean and it was like millions

video of it I don't remember but it was

like that in the on the news but it's

word incredibly in the first clip we saw

something is high concept what does it

mean means that it's very abstract or

Innovative we have for example in

entrepreneurship something called the

high concept pitch that you might say

it's the Uber of food delivery or

something like that so it's it's a way

to compare a new startup to one that

already exists so that people can

conceptualize it in their head you might

also say that for example someone's art

or someone's music is high concept

meaning that it's something that's never

been done before but obviously Taylor's

being sarcastic here right it's a very

basic thing that looks like someone made

on Microsoft Word it just says it like

it is you know like this is her name did

you play before the race or after the

race oh you know what that's a really

good question I think I blocked a lot of

this out okay there's an interesting

phrasal verb here when the host asks her

about like when did she sing before or

after she says that like I blocked it

out to block out what does it mean did

she faint no it means that either

deliberately or unconsciously you tried

to forget it you tried to put it out of

your mind so sometimes something

traumatic happens to us and to protect

us like our brain will block it out but

sometimes we might deliberately try to

block out something that was very

embarrassing that we don't want to

remember remember we don't want anyone

to tell us about or remind us of okay

fair enough I won't dwell it might be

triggering that was the whole crowd the

don't know 80 miles an hour probably I

can do that so she's top speed top speed

and not breathing heavy at all she's

like and I'm on the elliptical which is

kind of like that's the lazy person's

running machine isn't it and I hate it

and you can see in my face that I hate

it and you can hear that I hate it and

I'm

like and she keeps running like that for

like 30 minutes wow and then she has

this like Italian boyfriend come in and

he's like incredibly good-look and

they're both good-looking and he I swear

leans Over the Bar of the treadmill and

and they and they start making out while

she's running this back W that's the

most annoying woman on the planet and I

just wanted to be like you win you

already

won everyone starts somewhere H we've

has that dramatic feel to it I admire

like her music so much she's had such a

a journey on her career she started as a

many different things
