1832 at Kirtland a lot of the elders

were coming back the missionaries were

coming back and uh and so Joseph gets

this Revelation which we now have in

section 84 so I'm I'm going to read just

a few verses starting uh in verse 54 I

think cardon's going to throw it up here

so he says your minds and times past

have been darkened because of unbelief

and because you have treated lightly the

things you have received keep in mind

this is 1832 they just barely organized

the church they've had the Book of

Mormon you know that they're early still

this is Kirtland a lot of the you know

navoo and like there's a lot of

Revelations that what was treating

lightly were they like not reading their

scriptures enough every day what do you

think it was let's let's dig into that

after we read the the next few verses so

he says uh you've treated lightly the

things that you've received which vanity

and unbelief have brought the whole

church under condemnation and this

condemnation resteth upon the children

of Zion even all and they shall remain

under this condemnation until they

repent and remember the New Covenant

even the Book of Mormon and the former

Commandments which I've given them not

only to this is important not only to

say but to do according to that which I

have written in other words bringing

fruit bringing forth fruit meat for your

father's Kingdom right you have to have

the works you have to show that you're

listening to the stuff so here's my

purpose and that is to warn us about how

God's children in times past their

societies have imploded we're talking

about the jaredites and the Nephites

you've got Moroni at the end who's who's

compiling the final record and and he he

literally says in ether 8 the Lord

commands you when you see these type of

secret combinations and all these

corrupt people and all these matchin

naations and and laws of wickedness and

everything when you see these things

among you the Lord commands you to

awaken to your awful situation and

ensure that these secret combinations

don't get above you right otherwise then

you know woe unto everybody cuz uh it's

all awful so that's ether 8 and

permeated throughout the Book of Mormon

is this Narrative of how Satan operates

how he kind of Whispers The Sweet

Nothings how he gets people to be

seduced to partake in the The Spoils of

the secret combination the master Mayhem

the fact that you can kill and and get

power and wealth uh right starting with

with Cain uh slaying Abel and all the

way down all throughout the Book of

under that we may not only publish to

all the world but present them to the

heads of government and all the dark and

hellish Hue yes as the last effort which

is enjoined on us by our heavenly father

before he can fully and completely claim

that promise which shall uh call him

forth from his hiding place oh wow so go

to the middle middle of verse seven

we've been under the most damning hand

of murder tyranny oppression which has

been supported and urged and upheld by

the influence of that Spirit which has

so strongly riveted the Creeds of the

fathers who have inherited lies blah

blah blah he's talking about Satan okay

so then he gets to uh let's see let's

fast forward verse 12 is the one we're

all familiar with for there are many yet

on the earth among all sects parties and

denominations who are blinded by the

subtle craftiness of men whereby they

lie and wait to deceive and who are only

kept from the truth because they know

not where to find it we all know that

scripture that's oh that's why we need

missionary work right we got to go

preach the gospel because otherwise

people don't know where to find it and

that's totally true I don't want to

diminish that interpretation but we skip

over verse 13 often in the church the

very next verse therefore that we should

waste and wear out our lives in bringing

to light all the hidden things of

Darkness wherein we know them and they

are truly manifest from heaven and then

he goes on to say these things need to

be attended to with great earnestness

there are many things in the the future

that are going to matter to the Saints

so it says in uh in verse 15 let no man

count these things as as small things

for there is much which lith in Futurity

in the future pertaining to the Saints

which depends on these things Joseph is

saying we have to

expose in the 1830s or whenever this was

it mean to wear out our lives in

awesome definitely the primary purpose

of the Book of Mormon but this book has

this massive message this secondary

purpose of this warning manual to say be

aware of what it talked about in section

123 the the deceptions of men they W

they lie and wait to deceive there are

people that the adversary is working

through and if you don't know how to

recognize their their their evil

influences and counteract them and

thwart them and and get around them to

still you know go do what you need to do

you're going to be susceptible to them

that they're going to gain victory over

you right you're not going to be able to

progress as much as you ought to if you

heeded the warnings and then were able

when it talks about in 84 that we're

under condemnation because we've treated

lightly these things as I look in our

church I don't see anyone treating

warning manual aspect of the Book of

shouting at us in the final pages to say

God has commanded you about this thing

things of Darkness we need to be our own

system that affects uh all families and

and degrees you have to move your laptop

so we can see your fingers going you

know what saying number one number two

so you know I think the Federal Reserve

is

um and the corruption of our monetary

Supply it's literally robbing people and

empowering the the wealthy Elite at

everyone everyone else's expense I think

the military-industrial complex uh is a

huge one here uh these are conspiring

people who are trying to uh enrich and

gain power and if I'll just allude to a

certain part of the the temple ceremony

that talks about uh the power that comes

from commanding uh militaries and and

taking wealth from people okay solid

reference solid reference yeah if you if

you pick up what I'm what I'm droing in

there and so I think the military--

industrial complex which president

Kimbell rightly called out in the 70s as

being gods of stone and steel that we

the false gods we worship is what he

called them and so I think that's that's

a big part of it um I think big Pharma

uh the fact that we lean on the arm of

Flesh uh rather than you know prayer and

priesthood and uh natural things God has

given us we we seek uh this kind of uh

fleshy there's a lot of corruption in

big Pharma and our food and all kinds of

stuff uh certainly uh we you can go into

media and Hollywood and the messages

that are being pushed and there's so

many outlets that this goes through and

it's not that like there's this Global

conspiracy where like four men in a room

the pentaverate right are all sitting

down and they're kind of don't even know

what that means but it sounds cool oh

it's from So I Married an ex murder

where they're talking it's a fun little

silly it's not that owl up in that Grove

in the middle that's Bohemian Grove and

The Cremation of care that's uh anyways

there's there's so many uh tangents we

could go on

but uh so it is a moral imperative

established by Joseph Smith in the

Doctrine and Covenants that we have a

conspiracy theory channel that is now

now now sanctioned by God you know what

saying but think of it this way we talk

about the word of wisdom all the time

it's this benign common thing it's you

know okay don't smoke don't drink which

I submit to you that like we totally

misinterpret the word of wisdom we only

focus on these uh thou Shel knots and uh

very true and then the modern

interpretation of them that somehow we

read coffee into hot drinks when it

meant something different at the time

but we don't look at the thou shelts and

all the other things that we're

commanded to do but here's something

that when I talk to people about the

word of wisdom they have no clue this is

even in there because when I'm prophit I

will measure your BMI and take away your

temple recommend based thereon okay good

to

know no no Mountain Dews for you you're

consuming too much sugar okay so here's

verse four this is section 89 verse four

you don't need to pull it up I'll just

read a really quick portion it says

verily thus sayith the Lord unto you in

consequence of evils and Designs which

do and will exist in the hearts of

conspiring men in the last days I have

warned you and forwarn you by giving

unto you this word of wisdom by

Revelation the whole context of the word

of wisdom is that there would be evils

and designs and conspiring men in the

last days and we don't even pay

attention to that part it's just like oh

sorry I I can't you know drink wine

because we have the word of wisdom but

we don't have this context for there are

people out there trying to control our

minds subjugate us undermine our agency

and they do reduce our Effectiveness our

ability to right right so so that's it I

I feel like uh few of us in the church

talk about this we've been under

condemnation it's never been lifted I

think it was Benson or someone few

decades ago said hey this has never been

lifted this is still issue which I think

in part is why Benson was trying to

flood the Earth with the Book of Mormon

if you remember that he he went through

this big vent of really trying to get

the the the membership to well do you

think it's something we can never get

off our backs here because I mean if

Benson flooding the world with the Book

of Mormon couldn't get it off our backs

well I think we can do I think it's a a

very difficult uphill battle given where

we're at yes we have a lot of repenting

to do we have a lot of iniquity that we

need to purge out of the church we have

a lot of mediocrity and traditions of

our fathers and idolatry and and

everything that we've just gotten

content with in the status quo thinking

well I still have my temple recommends

so I'm sufficiently righteous all the

while we're still under condemnation

we're treating lightly the things that

we've received we're not qualifying

ourselves for additional things like the

sealed portion of the Book of Mormon or

so many other Hidden Mysteries and

ministering of angels and Revelations

and things that God is literally sitting

there saying hey there's all this other

stuff out there for you like I'm waiting

but you have to qualify yourself for it

and not only are you not qualifying

yourself you've treated lightly the

things that you've received you're still

down here and you need to start working

your way the number one thing you think

we treat lightly I think it's what I

said I think it's it's the the warning

the secret combinations the fact that

that's like uh like verboten in in the

church to even talk about like even in

church manuals uh gospel Doctrine

manuals in years past uh including come

follow me ether 8 that that section I

the scripture I read where morona is

saying awaken to the awful situation be

aware God commands you to do these

things when you look at the church's

manuals they completely gloss over it

they deemphasize it so I think even as

an institution the church is not doing a

good job and we as individuals as a

church are not doing a good job I think

at taking very seriously these

Commandments and These Warnings that God

has said and through Moroni like hey

look I've showed you what happened to

these two societies now it's time for

you to to what's that quote we all know

those who don't learn from the uh the

past are condemned to repeat it and so

if we don't learn from the ger jaredites

and the Nephites and avoid the same fate

we're going to bef you know it's that

same fate is going to befall us so I

there's other answers I'm not saying

this is like uh in in totality the

answer of how we treat lightly The Book

of Mormon but again I feel like we all

focus on the Jesus stuff no one's

treating that part lightly as I think

about what is the glaring issue the the

number one problem uh of treating it

lightly I think it's that so you know

how sometimes we talk about small and

plain and precious truths having been

omitted from The Stick of Judah yeah as

uh all of the uh the prophecies foretold

I find it so interesting that there's

this word secret combinations that does

show up and and and pervades the second

half of the Book of Mormon and really is

the subject of all of all the warnings

that you say the Book of Mormon fulfills

as like a a secondary function do you

are there secret combinations in the

Bible that you can think of in the

standard works I mean there's none in

the doctrine covenants it's not like

they say like you know like I don't know

the CIA would do MK Ultra in the middle

of the doctrine and Covenant or

something you know assassinating JFK you

know yeah that stuff but like it it do

you think that that was a plain and

precious truth removed from the Bible or

do you think that that's a unique

message in the Book of Mormon the

warning of secret combinations and so on

and so forth uh have you just never

thought about the fact that maybe the

Stick of Judah doesn't you know contain

those warnings has that been even on

your radar or what yeah I've wondered

about that in the past I I feel like the

Book of Revelation is itself a warning

of secret combinations to a certain

degree just just the kind of global

political match naations of uh of

different countries Waring against one

another in the latter days so I think

you could say there's an element there

where some of that involves this type of

uh gadianton esque you know corruption

and and

conspiracy uh but I've wondered yeah is

it is it that this stuff was in here but

the adversary wanted to Omit that

because the best thing that he can do is

convince us that the devil doesn't exist

right and Whisper that in our ears right

uh for there is no devil right and and

and that is like an effective strategy

but I don't know I don't know if it was

in there and omitted um but what I do

know is is you know God be thanked we

have this additional scripture that's

very clear on the matter and uh and then

it's backed up by the doctrine of

Covenant say Hey you know be anxiously

engaged in a good cause uh you're a

slothful servant if you're waiting to be

told go Wast and wear out your life

bringing to light H things of Darkness

there's there's references in modern

revelation that support this idea that

we do need to be kind of an evangelist

and advocate for truth and light now

last question uh because we only got you

know another 90 seconds here uh is there

an example of a society in history that

did this well like we have examples

biblical examples of people that didn't

live up to the Commandments of God There

Was You Know famously the Israelites

wandering in the wilderness for 40 years

there's uh the gadan robbers and the

lonit in in the Book of Mormon when they

were misbehaving and not being the good

lamanites and so on and so forth however

is there a society that you could point

to that says okay these people lifted

this condemnation that you speak of

through their good behavior so I would

actually point you to Helman 6 where it

talks about the Gadi antin and it

contrasts the uh the lamanites and the

the Nephites so this is Helman 6 vers 37

and

38 um and so I'll give you a second to

get no I'm there I'm here man all right

so it says and it came to pass that the

Layman did hunt the band of robbers so

very proactively they're not reacting

proactively hunting them and they did

preach the word of God Among the more

wicked part of them in so much that this

band of robbers was utterly destroyed so

they proactively preach the gospel

directly into in the name of God I

command you to hunt your theological and

philosophical enemies thus sayth the

Lord that's the scripture we're lacking

huh but then but then verse 38 check

this out this is the the polar opposite

with the Nephites the the chosen people

God's you know chosen Sons or whatever

verse 38 on the other hand the Nephites

did build them up and support them

beginning at the more wicked part of

them until they had overspread all the

land of the Nephites and had seduced the

more part of the righteous seduced them

until they had come down to believe in

their works and partake of their spoils

and to join with them in their secret

murders combination so the Nephites were

seduced by and tempted uh by the the

spoils the benefits the perks hey look

at the power look at the money look at

the prestige look at all these things

that you can get if you unite yourself

with us and and the Nephites uh were

tempted and they failed so that to me as

you ask about where's a society that has

succeeded that's the first one that

comes to mind is that that that's the

power of preaching the word of God but

it requires us to do that undiluted

boldly um and really speaking Truth uh

spreading light in in darkness rather

than kind of meekly cowering and and

avoiding and treating lightly the ideas

that we tend to do in the modern Church

wow this is incredible now as an outro I

looked down and I thought you know

Connor boak is a prolific author of

children's books famously you wrote the

Tuttle twins for everybody that

homeschools their kids at home you've

written a lot of um really cool stuff

you you're the director of The libertas

Institute a Libertarian think tank that

does all kinds of lobbying and so on and

so forth um so I wanted to Pub something

on behalf of you or one of your

organizations and guess what the first

book that was on the top of my pile was

uh okay true

conspiracies I can't think of a book

more more Germaine to the conversation

to publicize now than the Tuttle twins

guide to True conspiracies by Connor

boyak I didn't start this podcast

thinking that I would publicize a book

but now I'm ending sorry not this

podcast this radio program

uh but now I'm ending this radio program

uh pubbing your book true conspiracies

haven't finish reading it yet even I've

only gotten through the preface all

right but it is getting fully endorsed

just by the nature of uh of this past

half hour so just trying to do my part
