Hoy vamos a hablar del héroe clásico más conocido de todos los tiempos.
En España incluso se le dedica el faro romano más antiguo del mundo.
¿Sabéis a quien nos referimos?
Hablamos de Hércules, que originalmente se llamaba Alcides, por su abuelo Alceo.
Es hijo de Zeus, el Dios del Olimpo, y de Alcmena, la mujer del general Anfitrión.
Para que esta unión se diera, Zeus engañó a la mujer adoptando la forma de su marido.
Esa noche, concibió a Hércules y también a otro niño, este con su esposo.
Esto provocó la furia de Hera, esposa de Zeus, que ya estaba cansada de sus infidelidades.
Por ello, la Diosa quiso evitar por todos los medios que el niño naciese.
Zeus había anunciado que el próximo varón de la estirpe de Perseo gobernaría Argos,
pero Hera no estaba dispuesta a permitirlo.
Para ello, usó sus poderes con el fin de alargar el embarazo de Alcmena, y adelantar
el parto de otra de las nueras de Perseo.
Y lo consiguió, Euristeo nació antes y por tanto fue proclamado futuro rey.
Su ira no se apagó con eso, ya que al poco de nacer Hércules, envió dos serpientes
a que acabasen con su vida.
Sin embargo, y contra todo pronóstico, el niño consiguió vencerlas y sobrevivir.
Con todas estas cosas, su madre, Alcmena, decidió abandonarlo.
Tenía miedo de que la furia de la diosa cayera también contra ella.
Hermes acabó acogiendolo, y además dio pié a otra de las leyendas que rodean su figura.
Se dice que consiguió engañar a Hera para que esta amamantara al propio Hércules.
Pero cuando esta se dió cuenta, lo arrojó tan lejos como pudo.
Según la leyenda, ese episodio daría lugar al nacimiento de la vía láctea.
El tiempo fue pasando y Hercules consiguió crecer sano y salvo.
Se apartó de Hera e incluso se casó.
Su esposa era Megara, hija del rey de Tebas.
Con ella tuvo varios hijos y era aparentemente feliz.
Por supuesto, Hera no podía permitirlo, así que provocó que Hércules tuviera un ataque
de locura.
No era consciente de sus actos así que acabó matando a su propia familia.
Cuando recuperó la razón y vio lo que había hecho, esto lo destruyó por completo.
Estaba horrorizado así que acudió al Oráculo de Delfos, quería encontrar la manera de
enmendar su error.
La pitia, que como ya sabréis por otros vídeos (tarjeta Oráculo de Delfos)es la sacerdotisa,
le comunicó que a partir de ese momento dejaría de llamarse Alcides, para llamarse Heracles,
que viene a significar la gloria de Hera.
Además, le ordenaron ponerse bajo las órdenes de Euristeo, casualmente el mismo que por
nacer antes le había arrebatado el trono.
Este no lo quería cerca, tenía miedo de que lo desplazara como rey, así que simplemente
le encomendó doce trabajos, cuando los cumpliera, sería libre.
El primero de ellos fue cazar al león de Nemea.
Esta era una terrible bestia a la que las armas no le afectaban.
Hercules consiguió ganar la batalla cuerpo a cuerpo.
E hizo lo mismo con la hiedra de Lerna, una terrible serpiente que habitaba la laguna
de Lerna.
El tercer trabajo fue capturar a la cierva del monte Cerineo y llevarla viva al lugar
señalado.
Tardó un año pero lo logró.
Como también logró capturar a su siguiente presa, el jabalí de Erimato.
Estaba acabando con los campos de Arcadia, pero el solucionó el problema.
Sus siguientes trabajos fueron exterminar a los pájaros de la laguna Estinfalia, limpiar
los establos de Augias, capturar al toro de Creta, llevar hasta Tirinto las yeguas de
Diomedes o conseguir el cinturón de Hipólita.
Sus trabajos se fueron volviendo cada vez más complicados, pero por difícil que fuera,
siempre conseguía su objetivo.
Consiguió capturar a los toros rojos de Gerión, llevarle al rey manzanas del jardín de las
Hespérides y por último llevar a Euristeo a Cerbero.
Con esto finalizó su castigo y recuperó su libertad.
Toda su historia está marcada por sus múltiples amantes.
Esto le ocasionó numerosos problemas.
De hecho, una de ellas le ocasionó la muerte.
Fue Deyanira, hija del rey de Calidón, que le dio una túnica envenenada.
Eso le quemó la piel y acabó muriendo.
Pero no sin antes acabar su vida como un auténtico héroe.
Es por eso que los Dioses lo aceptaron como uno de ellos e incluso llegó a reconciliarse
con Hera.
