👞 Regretful Purchase: Dr. Martens Adrian Tassel Loafers

The speaker discusses their regret over purchasing the Dr. Martens Adrian Tassel Loafers. Despite their intent to transition from sneakers to loafers, these shoes caused severe discomfort and blisters over time. While many recommended methods to break them in, the loafers never became comfortable. Though they aesthetically elevated the speaker's wardrobe, they were ultimately too painful to wear. Alternatives, such as G.H. Bass loafers, are suggested as more comfortable options. Despite the regret, the speaker acknowledges that the loafers helped them explore different footwear styles.

05:00

🎧 Headphone Accessory Trend: Kef Mu7 vs Bose QC35

The speaker reflects on the trend of using headphones as a fashion accessory, particularly comparing their experience with Kef Mu7 headphones and Bose QC35. While the Kef headphones had an appealing design and premium feel, they were heavy, uncomfortable, and offered disappointing sound quality compared to the less expensive Bose. Even after testing the sound with someone else, they found negligible differences, with Bose performing better in bass-heavy music. The speaker now uses the Bose headphones almost exclusively and regrets purchasing the Kefs, despite their hopes for a higher-end product.

10:00

👢 Style vs Function: The Oxblood Red Our Legacy Camion Boots

The speaker shares their disappointment in the Oxblood Red Our Legacy Camion Boots. Although the boots are beautifully designed, they do not fit well into the speaker's wardrobe. Their unique red color and dressy appearance limit their versatility, making them suitable only for specific events. The speaker regrets the purchase due to the lack of wear they get out of these expensive boots. However, they still admire the boots’ design and hope to eventually incorporate them into their style.

👟 Experiment Gone Wrong: Reebok Club C Story MFG Collaboration

The speaker discusses their regret over buying the Reebok Club C Story MFG Collaboration sneakers. Despite liking to experiment with footwear, they found the sneakers weren’t suited to their style, leading to them being left unused. However, the collaboration introduced the speaker to Story MFG, now one of their favorite brands. The sneakers serve a functional purpose by providing insoles for other shoes, but overall, the speaker regrets the purchase due to their lack of wear.

👗 Struggling with Multiple Style Interests

The speaker opens up about their internal conflict with having diverse fashion interests. They enjoy experimenting with various styles but sometimes feel overwhelmed trying to juggle so many different looks. They contrast this with the benefit of having a consistent personal style or uniform. While exploring different trends and items is exciting, it can lead to wasted money and impractical purchases, such as the Camion boots or Reebok sneakers.

🧥 A Sale Regret: Needles Denim Jacket

The speaker regrets purchasing a Needles denim jacket, which they bought on sale from Essence. Despite the discount, the jacket's poor quality and flimsy fabric make it a disappointing purchase. The speaker was drawn to the jacket's aesthetic appeal and natural vibe but finds that it doesn't boost their confidence when worn. They reflect on the temptation of sales, noting that sometimes discounted items are on sale for a reason – because they’re not worth the investment.

☀️ Reflecting on Summer and Fashion Regrets

The speaker shifts focus to a more personal reflection, asking viewers how their summer has been. They mention the unusual weather in Colorado, with record levels of rain, hail, and tornadoes. Transcripts

play00:00

The feeling of regret is one of the worst emotions to experience,

play00:04

but is also one of the greatest motivators for future change and under the lens

play00:09

of fashion, regret often manifests itself in the form of poor consumer decisions.

play00:14

Today, let's go through an updated version of my most regretful purchases

play00:19

that I've made over the last year and a half.

play00:22

Let me know some of your worst regrets down in the comments section.

play00:25

I want the comments to be a fashion Horlicks Anonymous therapy section.

play00:28

For those of you who don't know me, my name is Drew.

play00:30

What it Do? It's nice to meet you.

play00:32

Let's talk. Regrets?

play00:51

Probably the biggest regret that I've had over

play00:54

the last year and a half has to be with the Doc.

play00:57

Martin Adrian Tassel loafers.

play01:01

Now, I want to make it abundantly clear, I don't think Doc Martin

play01:04

as a whole makes poor footwear, but oh, my

play01:09

goodness, the love and the attention that I gave the Doc

play01:12

Marten Adrian Loafers.

play01:14

When I look back on it, I sort of regret it.

play01:16

I was totally caught up in this movement to elevate my footwear

play01:20

away from sneakers, which I guess the Adrian Loafers did help me do.

play01:25

But what I just hated about the Adrian loafers is how much they hurt

play01:30

my damn feet.

play01:32

These things literally always hurt my feet.

play01:34

In my experience, I wore the Adrian loafers days

play01:38

and days on end and the blisters only got worse and worse and worse.

play01:43

In fact, it got so bad during the summer of, I would say, 2021

play01:47

that I would bring an extra pair of shoes, an extra pair of slides to wear

play01:52

just in case my feet started hurting too much wearing the Adrian loafers.

play01:57

It was that bad.

play01:58

Additionally, the sizing was never on point for my foot

play02:01

with the Adrian loafers and I was giving my recommendation in those previous

play02:06

YouTube videos on a future that I hoped would come when it comes to comfort.

play02:10

Now, if you have docs and love them, keep rocking them.

play02:14

This is my personal regrets,

play02:16

but I feel like a lot of people probably feel similar to the way I do.

play02:20

For me, the docs just never broke in.

play02:22

They just never had the period of breaking like people said they would.

play02:26

I had people telling me to microwave them.

play02:27

I had people telling me to stick them out in the sun.

play02:30

People telling me to do all this crazy stuff

play02:31

to break in a pair of shoes when a lot of times with other shoes,

play02:35

you don't have to do all that alternatives to Adrian loafers.

play02:38

If you want to get into loafers that are around

play02:40

kind of the same price point, you can find them at a good price point.

play02:43

G.H. Bass and Co, which they're leather, isn't perfect either.

play02:47

I don't want to get it twisted.

play02:48

Their leather is not perfect at all, but I found them more comfortable.

play02:51

And then if you want to spend a little bit more money,

play02:53

I'm finding a lot of love and a lot of enjoyment with more has.

play02:57

One final thing I do want to say about the Adrian Loafer

play03:00

is to leave it on a good note, to leave it on a happy note

play03:02

is that I do think that the Adrian loafers,

play03:04

like I said, are very responsible for me elevating or beginning

play03:08

to kind of look at other forms of footwear other than sneakers.

play03:12

And I think that stylistically they do look really good overall.

play03:17

I think that they add a really unique esthetic silhouette, proportional,

play03:22

all those fashion terminology words to an outfit that bring it together,

play03:25

that make it feel like a blend between like, okay, you like sneakers,

play03:30

and now you're getting into loafers like this is a good entry level

play03:33

look for a loafer that has a platform that is very contemporary

play03:37

and fits with a lot of outfits that sneakers would also fit with.

play03:40

But comfort as you'll see for this

play03:42

list, is paramount for usefulness, in my opinion.

play03:46

Next regret that I have comes in the form

play03:48

of a fashion accessory that was really big last year.

play03:51

That fashion accessory is headphones, which is kind of weird to say,

play03:55

but it's true. Headphones as an accessory were pretty big.

play03:58

So for me,

play03:59

when it first came to having headphones as an accessory, I was a bit skeptical.

play04:03

But then as the idea presented itself in more unique and interesting ways,

play04:07

it started to spark a bit of curiosity on my end in terms of actually

play04:10

trying out headphones.

play04:12

I thought it was actually pretty genius to double something

play04:16

that is both functional for listening to music,

play04:18

listening to podcasts as also a part of an esthetic that you can also decorate

play04:22

your body with in tandem with the items of clothing that you're wearing.

play04:26

So for this idea of headphones as a trend, I would say the Airpod

play04:30

Max's were the number one item,

play04:32

the most recognizable item within that current trend.

play04:36

Like I said, I like trying to find niche, more lesser known items and for me

play04:41

my headphone of choice were the Kef Mu seven headphones

play04:46

and there were some things I loved as well as some things that I truly hated.

play04:51

The loves include the design, the premium feel

play04:55

and nature of this product, and the fact that these are a relatively underrated

play05:00

headphone in the audio file or headphones as accessory space.

play05:04

The heats include the weight, the sound quality and the overall comfort.

play05:09

And there's that word again, comfort.

play05:11

These headphones are super heavy, especially comparing them to the Bose QC,

play05:17

35, which is another pair of headphones that I was kind of AB testing at the time.

play05:21

They're also super expensive compared to the Bose,

play05:24

which didn't really add up to me in my opinion.

play05:28

We tested these sound quality of the Bose in the CAFS,

play05:32

and I even let Lauren test it out to see if my ears were just a bit off.

play05:36

And we both found that the sound difference or the sound quality difference

play05:39

was negligible between the two, and one has a very much higher

play05:43

price point, which is kind of disappointing.

play05:45

And if anything for me, someone who likes rap music, hip hop music,

play05:49

the bass was actually better on the Bose than it was on the kef’s

play05:54

Now I still have the Kef headphones, obviously.

play05:56

That's why you're seeing B-roll of it now.

play05:58

But I use the Bose QC 35 twos, ten out of ten times.

play06:03

I definitely regret these and I was a bit disappointed by Kef.

play06:07

I know this is their first offering

play06:08

when it comes to Over the Ear headphones for Man.

play06:12

I had such high hopes.

play06:14

Another

play06:14

one of the more disappointing regrets that I have comes in the form of footwear

play06:18

and comes in the form of the our legacy cam on boots, particularly

play06:22

with my decision to go with the Oxblood Red Colorway,

play06:26

the our legacy Camion Boots for me are a great example of a pair of shoes

play06:31

that look amazingly beautiful when you just put them down on the table

play06:36

and you look at them,

play06:37

they are shoe that feels great and is awesome in so many ways.

play06:41

I've come to find that they don't really fit into my wardrobe,

play06:46

which sucks because it means that I don't get as much wear and as much value

play06:50

as I probably should for a pair of boots that cost the price point that they do.

play06:55

Also, the fact that they are red makes them really hard to style.

play06:59

They are a very dressy boot.

play07:01

They are a very specialized boot and I find myself only really wanting to

play07:05

wear them when there's a particular event that I'm going to that requires me

play07:10

to have something that's a bit unique and interesting when it comes to footwear.

play07:13

Also, with my current obsession with Japanese denim, I haven't tried it yet,

play07:17

so I don't really know, but it just doesn't seem right to pair

play07:21

my cuffed sugarcane Japanese denim jeans with a pair of dress boots

play07:27

that look like seventies cowboy boots in the camel boots.

play07:30

Now I have no plan on selling the cami on boots.

play07:33

As like I said, when I just look at them, I'm like,

play07:35

Damn, these are some beautiful, beautiful boots.

play07:38

And so I want to keep them in my wardrobe so that I can

play07:41

at some point hopefully integrate them into my wardrobe a bit better.

play07:45

But with my current style journey,

play07:46

I kind of regret the amount of just like love and attention and hype.

play07:51

I gave this shoe for myself who is someone that just doesn't.

play07:55

I don't get as much wear as I would hope to get out of the camel boots.

play07:58

Maybe if I would have gone with black, I would wear them more

play08:01

because black is just a more wearable color.

play08:03

But right now my attention is just

play08:05

on other items of footwear and that's just how it goes.

play08:09

Sometimes things are cyclical.

play08:11

I guarantee I'll come back to the carry on boots at some point, but

play08:15

it's kind of a regret that, you know, for how much

play08:17

I spent on them, I don't wear them as much as I probably should.

play08:20

Another item of footwear that I regret buying are the Reebok Club.

play08:25

CS story. MF G Collaboration.

play08:28

It's basically the same story as the camel boots.

play08:30

I mean, what type of dude has a pair of our legacy?

play08:34

Cami on Boots on one end and then has a pair of story

play08:38

MFG Reebok Club Cs This dude

play08:42

Sometimes I like to experiment with footwear, but I learned that

play08:45

the Reebok Club C just isn't for me or just a for me for the rhyme.

play08:50

See, I'm realizing more and more that I like what I like.

play08:54

I'm wearing a lot of new balances these days,

play08:56

and I've always worn a lot of new balances.

play08:58

I'm wearing my Onitsuka Tiger Mexico 66 is a lot when it comes to sneakers.

play09:02

I've always worn those sneakers, so I don't know.

play09:05

It's it's important to kind of poke at different spots in your style

play09:09

and see where it can go.

play09:10

And I did that with the club.

play09:12

CS And ever since I did that, they've been collecting dust.

play09:15

But you know, the good thing about the club CS

play09:17

is the collaboration with Storage MFG and this sneaker was actually the sneaker

play09:22

that put me on to learning about Story Mfg,

play09:24

which is now become one of my absolute favorite brands ever.

play09:28

In fact, the Club C is so unused, the way in which I do use it is

play09:34

I take the insole out of the club, see, because it's a very like simple insole

play09:38

and whenever I have a pair of loafers or a pair of boots

play09:40

that don't fit me properly, then maybe they're a bit too big.

play09:44

I take the insole from the club.

play09:45

See, I put it in that pair of shoes, bata bing bata boom

play09:49

I'm fitting in those shoes now because of the club size.

play09:53

And so that's what the club has been delegated to

play09:57

in this current stage in its lifecycle in my wardrobe.

play10:00

Another thing

play10:01

I would kind of weirdly say that I regret is that sometimes I feel like my style

play10:05

is trying to be so many different things at one time and I have a hard time

play10:10

kind of narrowing my focus and saying, okay, like I only like this one thing.

play10:15

I don't know

play10:16

if you guys experience that as well, but I just have so many different interests

play10:19

and sometimes it's like with the canyon boots or like with the Reebok classes.

play10:23

I just want to enjoy or try a product out and see if it's worth it.

play10:27

And as a result, like if you,

play10:29

you know, do that as someone who obviously is trying to develop personal style,

play10:32

you can spend, waste and use money ineffectively,

play10:36

rather than knowing exactly what you want in exactly

play10:39

the way you want it versus trying to try all these things at different time.

play10:42

There are benefits to obviously experimenting, exploring,

play10:45

like that's one of the most fun aspects of fashion.

play10:48

But there's also benefits to the flip side, which is having a uniform,

play10:52

knowing what you're going to wear and sticking to that kind of set path

play10:55

for multiple wears through months, through years, through decades.

play11:00

Last item I can say that I truly regret is this denim jacket by needles.

play11:06

This jacket is the flimsiest, the thinnest, the most frail denim jacket

play11:12

that I've ever felt from a quote unquote nice brand.

play11:16

The reason why I got it was the fact that it was on sale on Essence,

play11:20

I think it was about a year ago, in 2022, a year ago.

play11:23

I see why it was on sale.

play11:24

The quality is it just doesn't feel quality.

play11:26

Like when you hold a particular garment and there's a thickness to it

play11:30

or there's a material that just feels sublime.

play11:33

It makes you feel like, okay, I understand why this costs what it costs,

play11:36

but it's the exact opposite for this needle's jacket.

play11:40

And while it does have some cool

play11:41

aspects of design, has this very natural feel to it

play11:44

that I felt like my style was also kind of going in

play11:47

because I was getting more into story

play11:48

energy and I was like, This is a very organic mushroom.

play11:50

Me, Boulder, Colorado We feel Na na na na na na na.

play11:54

When I put this jacket on, it just doesn't boost my confidence.

play11:58

Even the fit of it just doesn't boost how I feel when I'm wearing it.

play12:02

And as a result, even though it was on sale, I kind of regret purchasing it.

play12:06

And that's one of the things that sales sometimes can do to you is that, you know,

play12:10

when you see something, a product that's on sale for 50% off,

play12:12

which I think this one was on sale for pretty good, it was under $400.

play12:15

So it was a pretty good deal. I think retails over 200.

play12:18

So it's a pretty good deal.

play12:19

Sales can get you excited about something, but you have to remember

play12:22

there are some products within sales that are on sale

play12:26

because they aren't the best product and that can be the case sometimes.

play12:30

Sometimes you can grab a fire,

play12:32

you can find a steal and the product is worth it.

play12:34

Worth it.

play12:35

But for this, I just I haven't really felt like it was the greatest decision
