Q & A
How did you two meet?
-We met on a language exchange platform. I was learning Japanese, and she was learning English. After talking for a few weeks, we discovered that we lived in the same city, and she visited me at my college. From there, we went out a few times for activities like watching movies and shopping.
How long have you been in a relationship?
-We have been together for almost two and a half years. We started dating in September 2021, so we've been together through almost all of our university life.
Have you ever faced challenges due to cultural differences?
-No major troubles. We both enjoy each other's cultures—he loves Japanese culture, and she enjoys Indian food. We even visited India together last year and had a great time.
Do both of your families know about the relationship?
-Yes, both of our families know and support our relationship. When I first told my dad about my boyfriend, he was surprised, but my mom liked him immediately. S's family accepted the fact that he has a foreign girlfriend, and they love me.
Do you fight with each other? Who usually convinces who?
-We fight almost every day, like most couples. I am usually the one who convinces her, and I tend to lose the arguments.
What was the first thing you liked about each other?
-I liked her energy. She's always so energetic, and I get a lot of energy from her. For me, I respect him the most because he came to Japan by himself and speaks Japanese very well, which I admire.
Who decides what to have for lunch or dinner?
-It's 50/50. She loves Indian food, and I love Japanese food. We both compromise, but I always want to go to sushi restaurants, while she prefers Indian restaurants to eat Biryani.
Do you both watch anime together? If so, which ones?
-She doesn’t watch anime, but I do. We watched Dr. Stone together, which is one of my favorite anime.
Can you both speak each other's languages? How old are you both?
-I'm 23 years old. She doesn’t speak Hindi well, only a few words. I can understand English but speak only a little. However, my Japanese is quite good, and I can also speak her local dialect from her hometown.
When do you plan to visit India next?
-We are planning to visit India this summer, either in August or September. We want to explore Northeast India since we've already visited places like Delhi, Goa, Mumbai, and Jaipur.
What are you both studying?
-I am doing a Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Computer Science Engineering, and she is majoring in Civil and Environmental Engineering.
When do you plan to get married?
-We hope to get married in the next four years, after we graduate from university and work for a year or two.
Do you plan to start a YouTube channel or create more content?
-We would love to be consistent with YouTube, but as university students, we don’t have much time. She is the one who creates all the videos, and we’ll do our best to share more content when we can.
