hello everybody my name is vikas
and today we're going to discuss two
most important topics
that will help you score a high band
in ielts writing and i speaking
and this will also improve your language
overall
yes i'm going to talk about coordinating
conjunctions
and subordinating conjunctions the
reason why these two are extremely
important is because they help you
form complex sentences and
they will help you sound like a pro
now i'm going to explain about
coordinating conjunctions and
subordinating conjunctions and i'm
also going to help you how to remember
them
okay let's start with the simpler one
which is the coordinating conjunctions
a coordinating conjunction is basically
a word that joins two
verbs two nouns two adjectives two
phrases
or two independent clauses
there are seven coordinating
conjunctions and the easy way to
remember them
is the word fanboys
abbreviates to for and
nor but or yet so
with the with the help of these
coordinating conjunctions
you can easily join to verbs or to nouns
or even to independent clauses
i've given some examples here for the
word for
the example is i don't eat peanuts for
i'm allergic to nuts you know these can
be these are two independent clauses but
with the word for we're able to combine
it into one seamless sentence
right i don't eat peanuts for i'm
allergic to nuts
the word and i mean we're fairly
familiar with this but nevertheless you
could go through the example here
the girl bought an ice cream and a
lemonade
nor dad wanted neither red
no the yellow shirt let's move on to the
fairly more complicated one which is the
subordinating conjunctions
a subordinating conjunction is a word or
phrase
that links a dependent clause to an
independent clause when i show you the
example you'll know what i mean
there are about 48 subordinating
conjunctions
but i've given you an easy method to
remember them
it's called the word what beast now this
does not cover all the
48 but there are enough for you to write
a good essay good
good letter and also
you know it could help you during the
eyes speaking as well
now if you want if you want to use this
you know you could write it on the rough
sheet that you get
when you enter the exam you know you
could just write what piece and fanboys
and make it a point that you
use these coordinating and subordinating
conjunctions
guys it's extremely important for you to
form complex sentences
okay now like i said easy way to
remember them
is what bees in in
in you can see i've mentioned in the
brackets here now this is my own way of
defining it i
i haven't heard of any other trainer use
this so
yeah feel free to use it so i'm going to
abbreviate it this way
we're going to it has about
say six w's and another six
is three t's three b's three eyes two
e's and three s's
i don't know if that simplifies it for
you but yeah what b's is the word that
you need to remember
so it starts with when where whereas
whether or not why wherever
after although as as if as long as as
much as
that then though till because before
by the time if in case in order that
even if even though so since
the two examples that i like to give you
here is
robin drove the batmobile whenever
batman was away now
robin drove the batmobile is an
independent clause
batman was away the dependent clause
now where you put you use the word
whenever
and you make it seem like one seamless
sentence robin drove the bat movie
whenever batman was away
example number two i'll keep on dreaming
until my dreams come true
so i hope you get the point
you use coordinating conjunctions and
subordinating conjunctions to basically
form complex sentences
now this will help you score in a
section called as
lexical resources and it will help you
form sentences better and you'll be able
to make better paragraphs
and you know it will it'll help you
score a good score
okay so if you have any questions or
queries regarding this
feel free to let me know and remember
guys this is the number one trick you
have to be able to write complex
sentences
in your essays and in your formal
letters and you will only be able to
achieve it with the help of these
conjunctions
if you have any questions or queries
feel free to leave a comment below
i'm more than happy to help you thank
you for your time today
