Outlines
📚 Introduction to Peter Finke's Aquatic Journey
The script introduces Peter Finke, a multi-titled professor with a background in economics and cultural studies, who is also an enthusiast of aquaristics. It outlines the intention to discuss his involvement in the hobby, starting from the 1950s when aquaristics was quite different from today, with the use of full-glass tanks and limited information on fish species. The speaker, Benny vom Acker, expresses excitement about delving into Peter's history with aquaristics, the evolution of the hobby, and Peter's contributions, including his role in the establishment of the 'Pair of Rome' project and his documentation of citizen science within the hobby.
🐟 Early Steps in Aquaristics and the Influence of Literature
This paragraph details the speaker's initial foray into aquaristics, sparked by a gift of a book with illustrations by Walter Heubach during his childhood. The speaker's interest in amphibians and fish led him to acquire a small aquarium and begin learning about fishkeeping through books available at the time, such as 'Das Aquarium' by Werner Gehlhaar. The speaker describes the rudimentary nature of these early aquariums, the importance of plants for oxygen production, and the lack of technical equipment. The paragraph also highlights the absence of certain fish species in the literature of the time, such as the labyrinth fish, which would later become a focus of the speaker's interest.
🌿 The Fascination with Labyrinth Fish and Early Aquaristic Literature
The speaker recounts his experience with dwarf gourami fish, observing their nesting behaviors and the challenges of keeping them alive with limited resources. He discusses the limitations of the available literature on labyrinth fish, which only described small species suitable for small aquariums. The speaker's interest in these fish was piqued by descriptions in books like 'Das Süßwasser Aquarium' by Hans Frei, which provided more detailed information about the species, though still not comprehensive. The paragraph reflects on the speaker's early aquaristic experiences and the gradual expansion of his knowledge through various books and sources.
📚 The Evolution of Aquatic Literature and the Discovery of New Species
The script describes the evolution of aquaristic literature and the speaker's ongoing quest for knowledge about labyrinth fish. It mentions the absence of certain species in early literature and the gradual introduction of new species through various books and authors, such as Jörg Vierth, who wrote about new 'Pracht Kuranyi' species. The speaker also discusses the work of Hans-Joachim Richter, who provided the first good illustrations of labyrinth fish, and the contributions of other authors like Horst Linke, who expanded the known species of labyrinth fish through his own photography and writings.
🌐 International Perspectives on Labyrinth Fish and the Impact of Influential Authors
The speaker shares his discovery of the diversity within the labyrinth fish genus through international literature, such as the compilation by Williams, which included an article by Michael Tweedy on a particularly interesting labyrinth fish. The paragraph highlights the growing international interest in these fish and the role of influential authors in shaping the understanding and appreciation of labyrinth fish among aquarists. It also teases the next part of the video, where the speaker intends to continue the discussion on the development of aquaristics and address viewer questions in a follow-up video with Peter Finke.

Transcripts
hey leute ich finds benny vom acker
puristen kanal und eigentlich hatte ich
schon lange ein interview vorbereitet
doch nun ist mir eine freude zum
geworden dass aber auch ganz gut zum
interviewten ist denn so wäre passt es
geht nämlich um peter finke und zwar
professor doktor doktor und so weiter
aber so eitel ist peter gar nicht
deswegen
ich ihnen auch jetzt hier einfach immer
wieder peter nennen werde peter finke es
denke ich vielen die mit labor
inzwischen zu tun haben durchaus ein
begriff fiel mir die labyrinth fischer
aufgenommen in der aquaristik
wahrscheinlich jetzt nicht für für alle
irgendwie name also er ist professor
gewesen für
einmal wirtschaftswissenschaften wie es
auch häufig zum beispiel bei wikipedia
steht vor allem aber
kulturwissenschaftler und gerade das ist
vom thema her natürlich für uns auch
irgendwie interessant als insofern als
dass er als aquarianer auch quasi die
kultur des hobbys mitverfolgt hat und
das gibt jetzt mehrere teile also das
ganze ist etwas ausgeartet wir wären
etwas aufteilen
zum einen wie peter überhaupt zur
aquaristik gekommen ist also da geht
jetzt quasi aquaristik in den 50er
jahren waren überhaupt nicht meine
anfänge der aquaristik sind ja schon
mehrere hundert jahre her so alte später
beobachtungen machen teilweise neue
arten entdeckt haben die sonst gar nicht
so offensichtlich waren also dass man
irgendwelche genauen unterschiede fest
stellt genauen verhaltens beobachtungen
tun
terrarium
riskante bauweise
brauchen eben wirklich kaltes wasser
fischer teil eins waren was halt für
ja
ansonsten war nicht sehr viel an
technischer ausrüstung nötig bei diesem
hier beschriebenen aquarien
sondern
man braucht einen kleinen haimerl ist
dann doch auf dauer nicht ausreichend
war in der wohnung der musste möglichst
richtig dimensioniert sein dann trotzdem
noch kein regler die in gams eigentlich
damals noch gar nicht so richtig
und man brauchte einen durch lüfter das
heißt da in den damaligen aquarien
sprudelte
permanent die luft
und das king diente auch hauptsächlich
der sauerstoffversorgung der fische aber
ich interessierte mich weil ich nur ein
kleines aquarium hatte
wofür kleine fische und bei den kleinen
verschneite die für solche die nun nicht
so stark sauerstoff bedürftig waren und
nicht so empfindlich waren und deshalb
fiel mir in diesen büchern und werner
gehlhaar
fehlen mir die labyrinthische auf
und bei den labyrinthischen ging es
natürlich auch nur um kleine
und gar wurde würden
eigentlich nur die zwerg faden fische
beschrieben die bis zu 5 cm lang werden
konnten und die sehr schön aussahen nach
der beschreibung und dies dann auch
einzuladen in göttingen gab die
schwanger herum hat mir sehr gut
gefallen ich habe mir dann ein pärchen
zwerg faden fische schenken lassen und
die haben wir die cookies verdrängt und
ich hab die gesamten
nestbau aktivitäten dieser beiden tiere
verfolgen können ich habe den hsv
gesehen ich habe auch gesehen wie siege
leicht haben ich habe auch die laufen
gesehen ich konnte die laufen nicht
aufziehen das war anders als bei den
coupés die fressen auch trockenfutter
während sie lassen von den
zwei abfahrten fischen die brauchten
dann spezielles futter welches man
kleinen aquarien
gelandet und auch meine späteren becken
waren meistens nicht sehr viel größer
das schönste aquarium weiß nicht
besessen habe das war 60 cm lang
enthielt wunderbare crypto grünen die
mir dann auch bald sehr gefielen als
aquarien pflanzen und natürlich
hauptsächlich
labyrinth fische wie gar nicht ganz
schön
kuranyis und klose 2 kuranyis und
schleier kam fischer und co lisa rabiosa
also der etwas die etwas größere neben
art neben kohle salia die damals in
diesen büchern auch schon beschrieben
wurde
in den damaligen büchern gab es
überhaupt keine bar oz die art die
gattung paar aus rom - war mir völlig
unbekannt die gab es einfach nicht die
wurde deutlich geschwunden
denn
aquaristik
gab es die gattung paar aus froh -
überhaupt nicht es gab auch den
deutschen begriff pracht kuranyi
diesem buch fertig zwei abbildungen 2
auch von ihm selbst gezeichnete
federzeichnungen von
traktoren ist einmal gab es den pass
through - disney
schon erste wunderbare farbabbildungen
und eine der eindrucksvollsten
abbildungen bis dann ein foto von karl
von hans joachim richter dass auf diesem
büchlein
labyrinthische von hans-joachim mailand
zu sehen ist mailand war sozusagen die
nachfolge generation von hans frey der
waren eine zeit lang sozusagen der
führende aquarien schriftsteller in
amerikanischen
aquarianer und
der hat diese zusammenstellung
aus den zeitschriften
jahrgängen seines magazins in amerika in
michael tweedy
der war damals
kurator des löffels museum in singapur
das war ja damals sozial eine der
zentralen stellen wo
spitzen quoten
nämlich diese
fische der gattung paros froh -
ja und
jetzt mache ich mal einen sprung und
erzähle das entscheidende ereignis
und dass es wirklich geht das war
sozusagen bisher vorgeschichte
erste teil beim nächsten mal also teil 2
wird das dann genau hier weitergehen wie
gesagt eigentlich ist es ein
durchgängiges video gewesen wir haben
das mal der länge halber etwas
aufgeteilt geht es also genauso weiter
