Summary

TLDRThe video script emphasizes the metaphor of faith (Iman) as a garment that requires care and renewal, just like clothes in our daily lives. It highlights how faith can fade over time, urging believers to seek Allah's help in rejuvenating it. The Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam) connected abstaining from certain luxuries in this world, like silk and gold, to being rewarded with them in Paradise. The script describes the beauty, jewelry, and garments in Jannah (Paradise) and encourages reflecting on how one’s actions in this life—modesty, charity, and piety—can influence their adornment in the hereafter.

Q & A

  • What does the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam compare Iman (faith) to in the hadith?

-The Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam likens Iman (faith) to a garment, which can wear out over time, just like clothes do. He encourages believers to ask Allah to renew their faith, as a person would care for and refresh their clothes.

  • How does faith lose its strength over time, according to the Prophet's teaching?

-Just as garments lose their color and shine over time, faith can also weaken, especially for those who have been Muslim for a long time. Therefore, it is important to seek Allah's help to renew faith in the heart.

  • What connection does the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam make between certain worldly pleasures and their absence in the Hereafter?

-The Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam mentions that those who wear silk or gold, or drink wine in this world, will not enjoy these in the Hereafter. This applies particularly to men and emphasizes the reward of abstaining from certain luxuries for the sake of attaining them in Paradise.

  • What does Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la promise for the patient in Surah Al-Insan?

-In Surah Al-Insan, Allah promises the patient a garden and silk robes as a reward. This reflects the connection between worldly abstention and eternal reward in the Hereafter.

  • How are the garments and adornments of Paradise described?

-The garments in Paradise are made of fine green silk and rich brocade, and the inhabitants are adorned with bracelets of silver and gold, decorated with pearls. These items are perfectly tailored, and no effort is required to obtain them as they are provided by Allah.

  • What role does an angel play in preparing the jewelry of the people of Paradise?

-According to a narration, Allah has assigned an angel the task of shaping the jewelry of the people of Paradise until the Day of Judgment. This angel is preparing the jewelry that will far outshine anything in the world.

  • How does the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam describe the value of the jewelry of Paradise?

-The Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam says that even a small piece of jewelry from Paradise, like a bangle or a pearl, would outshine the sun and beautify the heavens and the earth. This shows the unparalleled beauty and value of Paradise’s adornments.

  • What are some specific rewards for certain groups of people, such as the Huffadh (those who memorize the Qur’an) and the Shaheed (martyrs)?

-The Huffadh and their parents will be rewarded with special robes in Paradise, while martyrs (Shaheed) will receive a crown of honor. The reward for memorizing the Qur'an or sacrificing one's life for Allah's cause comes with unique and precious adornments in the Hereafter.

  • What do the combs in Paradise signify, and why are they used if perfection already exists in Paradise?

-Combs in Paradise are made of gold and serve to add beauty, even though everything in Paradise, including hair, is already perfect. This reflects the continuous enhancement of beauty in Paradise.

  • What should believers reflect on regarding their spiritual and physical garments in this world?

-Believers are encouraged to reflect on whether they are garments of protection, modesty, and support for their loved ones and community. Just as they clothe themselves out of modesty in this life, they are called to consider how their actions now will lead to the adornment they will receive in Paradise.

🧥 The Metaphor of Faith as a Garment

This paragraph discusses how everything we wear in life eventually wears out, much like faith. The Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam) likened faith to a garment that can lose its color and shine over time. He encouraged believers to care for their faith as they would care for a garment and ask Allah to renew the faith in their hearts. The analogy extends to the concept of keeping faith fresh and beautiful in this world to be rewarded in the Hereafter, where the garments of Paradise will be provided directly from the trees of Jannah. Abstaining from certain luxuries in this life, such as silk and gold for men, is highlighted as a means to earn those rewards in the afterlife.

05:00

🌟 The Rewards of Patience and the Beauty of Jannah's Garments

The paragraph emphasizes the correlation between abstaining from certain luxuries in this life and being rewarded in the afterlife with unparalleled beauty. Allah promises the patient believers silk robes and bracelets of silver, mentioned in Surah Al Insan. The adornments of Jannah are not merely functional but serve as a demonstration of the believers' virtue and rank. Ibn Qayyim describes how the garments in Jannah are layers of outer beauty, not for concealment but for decoration. Furthermore, Allah enhances both the inner pleasure through pure drinks and the outer appearance with perfectly tailored garments, each a reflection of divine precision and care.

Mindmap

Keywords

💡Iman (Faith)

Iman refers to faith in Islam, which, according to the video, is likened to a garment by the Prophet Muhammad (SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam). Just as a garment can wear out over time, faith can lose its vibrancy, especially if not nurtured. The video emphasizes the importance of asking Allah to renew one's faith, reflecting the need for constant spiritual care.

💡Garments of Paradise

The video discusses the idea that the virtuous will be adorned with beautiful garments in Paradise, such as fine green silk and brocade. These garments symbolize not only physical beauty but also spiritual rewards, reflecting the individuals’ rank and virtue in the afterlife. In Paradise, clothes are provided by Allah and do not serve to conceal, but to adorn and enhance beauty.

💡Silk and Gold in the Hereafter

In this life, men are prohibited from wearing silk and gold, but in Paradise, these materials are part of the divine reward for those who abstain. The video explains that those who avoid wearing silk and gold in this world will be rewarded with them in the Hereafter, symbolizing the idea of sacrificing worldly pleasures for eternal rewards.

💡Wine of Paradise

The video draws a parallel between abstaining from wine in this world and receiving pure, perfect wine in Paradise. It highlights how the pleasures of the Hereafter, including drink and clothing, are far superior to those of this world. The precise nature of the drinks in Paradise is mentioned, where they are perfectly measured and proportioned.

💡Patience (Sabr)

Patience, or 'sabr,' is presented as a key virtue rewarded in Paradise. The video references a verse from Surah Al-Insan, where Allah promises a garden and silk garments as a reward for those who are patient. Patience in enduring hardships and refraining from forbidden actions is seen as a path to immense reward in the Hereafter.

💡Angels in Paradise

Angels play a significant role in the afterlife, as described in the video. For example, there is an angel specifically assigned to crafting the jewelry for the people of Paradise, emphasizing that every detail of the rewards in the Hereafter is being meticulously prepared by Allah’s will. This concept illustrates the divine care and attention given to the inhabitants of Paradise.

💡Jewelry of Paradise

Jewelry in Paradise, such as bracelets of gold and pearls, symbolizes the ultimate form of adornment. These pieces are not just beautiful but hold spiritual significance, reflecting the rewards for righteous deeds. The Prophet is quoted as saying that a single piece of jewelry from Paradise could outshine the sun, illustrating its unmatched brilliance and value.

💡Crown of Honor

The 'Crown of Honor' is a special reward given to certain individuals in Paradise, such as the parents of those who memorize the Qur'an (huffadh) and martyrs (Shaheed). These crowns symbolize the high status and honor of these individuals in the afterlife. A single ruby from the crown of a Shaheed is said to be more valuable than the entire world, underscoring the immense spiritual rewards.

💡Libas al-Taqwa (Garment of Piety)

The 'Garment of Piety' represents a person’s modesty and righteousness. The video encourages viewers to metaphorically clothe themselves in piety in this life, as this will lead to being adorned with beautiful garments in the Hereafter. This concept highlights the importance of living a life of faith, modesty, and good deeds to attain spiritual and material rewards in Paradise.

💡Concealing Faults

The concept of concealing the faults of others is discussed in the video in connection to being 'clothed' in Paradise. It suggests that those who help conceal the faults of others in this world will be rewarded with beautiful adornment in the afterlife. This idea reinforces the Islamic principle of forgiveness, mercy, and the protection of others’ dignity.

Transcripts

play00:00

Everything you wear in this life,

play00:02

no matter how elegant or nice it may be at first,

play00:05

eventually gets old or worn out.

play00:08

And the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam

play00:09

in fact likened Iman.

play00:10

He likened faith to a garment and said that you need

play00:13

to care for it in the same way you would care for a garment.

play00:16

He said, SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam, "innal imana

play00:19

layakhlaq fi jawf 'ahadikum kama yakhlaq althawb

play00:22

fasalullalha 'an yujadidal imana fi qulubikum."

play00:25

'That verily faith wears out in your heart

play00:28

the same way that a garment does.'

play00:29

Sometimes,

play00:30

especially if you've been Muslim for a long time,

play00:33

faith loses its color and it loses its shine.

play00:36

So ask Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la

play00:38

to revive the faith in your heart.

play00:40

If your Iman was a garment,

play00:43

what would it look like right now?

play00:44

Keep it new, beautiful and keep it fresh

play00:48

and let Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la

play00:49

dress you with the result of it

play00:51

on the Day of Judgment and in Paradise.

play01:06

So now as we are going out to eat

play01:08

and drink and feast with the people,

play01:11

what is it that we are wearing in Jannah?

play01:14

The Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam said,

play01:16

"That whoever wears silk in this world

play01:19

will not wear it in the Hereafter."

play01:21

And he said in another narration,

play01:22

SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam

play01:24

"Whoever wears gold in this world,

play01:26

will not wear it in the Hereafter."

play01:27

And the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam, of course,

play01:29

is speaking specifically to men.

play01:32

And this is very similar

play01:33

to when the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam said,

play01:35

"Whoever drinks wine in this world

play01:37

will not drink it in the Hereafter."

play01:39

And so you'll notice this connection between

play01:41

abstaining from certain drinks in this life

play01:44

and abstaining from certain garments

play01:47

and adornment in this life,

play01:48

so that you could have it in the Hereafter instead.

play01:50

And so Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la often

play01:52

in the Qur'an connects

play01:54

the drinks of Paradise with the dress of Paradise.

play01:57

He says in Surah Al Insan, "Wajazaahum bima

play02:01

sabaru۟ jannatan waHarira."

play02:03

Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la will reward them

play02:06

for their patience with a garden

play02:08

and with silk robes.

play02:10

And then a few verses later

play02:11

Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la says,

play02:12

"That the virtuous will be dressed

play02:14

in garments of fine green silk

play02:17

and rich brocade and adorned with bracelets of silver."

play02:21

And as we said, with these robes

play02:22

and with the clothes of the people of Jannah,

play02:24

you don't have to grab them off of the rack.

play02:26

Instead you grab them off of the branches

play02:28

of the trees that Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la

play02:30

has provided to you.

play02:32

Ibn Qayyim Rahimahullah says about this verse in

play02:34

Surah Al Insan, "'Aliyahum thiab",

play02:36

'Upon the virtuous of them'

play02:39

that it shows that this is an outer garment

play02:42

on top of the garments that Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la

play02:44

has given to you.

play02:45

So it's like Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la

play02:47

is further adorning you with robes

play02:50

to demonstrate your rank and your virtue.

play02:53

It's not concealing anything.

play02:54

Just like how you add garments for decoration and beauty.

play02:58

And he said, consider how Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la

play03:00

mentions both the beauty of the outside of the person

play03:04

with the garments that he adorns them with,

play03:06

and the pleasure of the inside of the person

play03:09

with the pure wine and drink that he's giving to them.

play03:12

So you've already bathed in the rivers of Jannah

play03:15

that removed any impurity and imperfection inside out.

play03:19

And now Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la

play03:20

is increasing your pleasure through wine

play03:23

and drink on the inside,

play03:25

and adornment on the outside.

play03:27

And if the drinks are precise in Jannah,

play03:29

Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la says, "qaddaruha taqdira."

play03:31

'They're in perfect proportion.'

play03:34

Imagine how perfectly fitted

play03:36

the tailored clothes of Jannah are.

play03:38

Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la says,

play03:40

"yuhallawna fiha min 'asawir min dhahabin

play03:42

ۭ̉wa lu lua walibasuhum fiha hareer."

play03:45

"And here they will be adorned with golden bracelets

play03:49

and pearls,

play03:50

and there they will have silken garments."

play03:53

Now you have the wine and you have the silk garments

play03:56

and now you have gold bracelets.

play03:58

And these bracelets will not just be gold,

play04:01

but they'll also have exotic pearls on them.

play04:04

And how are the bracelets being made?

play04:06

Now, we mentioned in the previous episode

play04:08

that you have a bull that is grazing

play04:10

in Jannah ready to be sacrificed for you.

play04:13

So is there a jeweler in Jannah for you?

play04:16

Ka'b radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu said,

play04:18

"Allah Subh'anaHu Wa Ta-A'la has created an angel

play04:21

who is assigned with the duty

play04:23

of shaping the jewelry of the people of Paradise

play04:26

until the Day of Judgment."

play04:27

So just like your palaces, your food, your drink,

play04:30

your gardens are already in preparation,

play04:32

your jewelry is already being made by an angel in Paradise.

play04:36

And he said that if one bangle

play04:39

of the jewelry of the people of Paradise was brought out,

play04:42

it would diminish the light of the sun.

play04:44

So imagine if the entire sets of jewelry

play04:47

of the people of Paradise were shown to this world.

play04:50

People try to stack valleys of gold in this life

play04:53

and they're never satisfied,

play04:54

even though they know

play04:56

they can't take it with them to the grave.

play04:58

But imagine one carat of gold,

play05:00

one pearl from Jannah

play05:01

is better than the entire world

play05:03

and everything that is within it.

play05:05

And the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam

play05:06

confirmed this in one hadith.

play05:07

He said, "If as little as what could be placed

play05:10

on a fingernail of what is in Paradise

play05:13

were to become apparent to the people of this world,

play05:16

it would have beautified the entirety

play05:18

of the heavens and the earth.

play05:19

And if a man among the people of Paradise were to appear

play05:23

and his bracelets were made apparent,

play05:25

it would blot out the light of the sun."

play05:27

In another narration,

play05:29

one pearl from the dress of a woman of Paradise

play05:32

would light up what is between the east and the west.

play05:35

And in one narration,

play05:35

the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam said,

play05:37

"They will have bracelets of gold and silver,

play05:39

garlands of pearl and ruby,

play05:41

and they will have crowns on them like the crowns of kings."

play05:45

But what are these crowns on their heads

play05:46

from and is there a difference between them?

play05:50

While everyone in Jannah has some sort of a crown,

play05:53

not all crowns are equal.

play05:54

And the greatest crown

play05:56

is the crown of the Qur'an, for the huffadh,

play05:59

and for their parents.

play06:01

The Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam said,

play06:03

"That the parents of the one who memorizes the Qur'an

play06:06

will be dressed with two robes,

play06:08

which could not be valued by anything in this world.

play06:11

And they will say as they're being dressed

play06:13

with this robe,

play06:14

'Ya Rab,

play06:14

O our Lord, why are we given this?'

play06:17

And it will be said to them,

play06:18

'Because of your child's learning of the Qur'an.'"

play06:21

And of course the Shaheed has a crown

play06:23

that is unlike any other crown.

play06:25

And it's narrated from al Maqdad

play06:27

radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu,

play06:28

"That a crown of honor

play06:30

will be placed upon the head of the Shaheed.

play06:32

One ruby of that crown is better than this world

play06:35

and everything that is in it."

play06:37

Now, as for the combs, and why do you need combs

play06:39

if your hair is never disheveled?

play06:40

Right?

play06:41

The combs are of gold

play06:43

and that's merely to add beauty.

play06:45

So every time you comb your hair in Jannah,

play06:47

it merely adds to its beauty.

play06:49

But you're not fixing anything in Jannah.

play06:51

In the same way that we have perfume,

play06:53

even though the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam

play06:54

said what?

play06:55

We naturally smell like musk.

play06:57

So this is just to add to your fragrance in al Jannah.

play07:00

And of course this is the same thing

play07:02

with the outer garments that we mentioned

play07:04

that don't need to conceal anything

play07:06

but only further beautify us.

play07:08

Now before you ask yourself

play07:10

what type of garments you would want in Paradise,

play07:13

ask yourself now what type of a garment

play07:16

are you in this dunya?

play07:17

Do you conceal your brother's fault

play07:19

so that you may be concealed and beautified in Paradise?

play07:22

If you're married, are you a garment to your spouse?

play07:25

"Hunna libasun llakum wa'antum libasunۭ llahun."

play07:27

"You are a garment to them and they are a garment to you."

play07:30

Do you clothe yourself out of modesty in this life?

play07:33

Because the Prophet SallAllahu Alaihi Wasallam mentioned,

play07:34

that those who are dressed

play07:35

but in actuality not really wearing anything

play07:38

would not even smell Jannah.

play07:39

Do you clothe your brothers and sisters in need

play07:42

out of gratitude?

play07:44

So that Allah As-Shakur clothes you in a way

play07:47

that makes you forever grateful in Jannah?

play07:49

And finally, do you adorn yourself with libas altaqwaa,

play07:53

the garment of piety?

play07:54

None of which is more beautiful than the Qur'an.

play07:58

"Ya ayyatuha-nafsul

play08:03

mutma-innah.

play08:07

Irji'i ila rabbiki

play08:12

radiyatan mardiyya.

play08:17

Fadkhuli fi 'ibadi wadkhuli

play08:21

jannati."
