🌺 The Gardens of Jannah in this World

This paragraph explains the concept of the gardens of Jannah (paradise) in this world. There are two types: those where Allah is remembered, and those where others are remembered for the sake of Allah. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasized that gatherings of knowledge are like gardens of paradise. Additionally, visiting the sick brings great rewards, as 70,000 angels accompany the visitor and Allah gifts a garden in Jannah. These actions expand a person’s gardens in paradise. The paragraph also introduces the other properties in Jannah, like the Khiyam (guest houses or pavilions) built for the enjoyment of the believers and the heavenly beings who reside there. These places offer privacy, luxury, and frequent visits by angels, with many golden doors and comfortable furnishings like couches, cushions, and fine carpets.

🌴 The Beauty and Fragrance of Jannah's Gardens

The second paragraph delves into the breathtaking beauty of Jannah's gardens, drawing parallels with earthly exotic destinations. It describes the soil and ground of Jannah, with the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) mentioning that the gravel is made of pearls and rubies, while the dirt is saffron with a fragrance of musk. The Prophet also described Jannah’s soil as pure white musk, creating an environment of unparalleled beauty and fragrance. Every step in Jannah brings forth a pleasant fragrance, enhancing the experience. This section also highlights how the companions of the Prophet, such as Abu Talha and Abu Dehdah, were inspired by the descriptions of Jannah's gardens and gave away their prized earthly gardens for a place in the eternal gardens of paradise, showcasing the immense rewards of charity in this life.

Keywords

💡Gardens of Jannah

The term 'Gardens of Jannah' refers to the lush, heavenly gardens in paradise that are promised to the righteous believers in Islam. In the video, these gardens symbolize the rewards awaiting those who remember Allah and perform righteous deeds, such as attending knowledge circles or visiting the sick. They are portrayed as incredibly beautiful and serene, with details such as fruit-bearing trees and relaxing environments.

💡Circles of Knowledge

The 'Circles of Knowledge' are gatherings where Islamic teachings are discussed, and Allah is remembered. According to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), such circles are considered gardens of paradise in this world. These gatherings elevate the status of the participants and are praised by angels and Allah Himself, as explained in the script.

💡Visiting the Sick

In the video, visiting the sick is emphasized as a virtuous act rewarded by Allah. It is said that 70,000 angels accompany the person visiting the sick, and they are gifted with a garden of fruit in paradise. This demonstrates the high value Islam places on compassion and care for others, as well as how such actions expand one's 'gardens' in Jannah.

💡Khiyam (Pavilions)

'Khiyam' are the guest pavilions in Jannah, described as beautiful tents where heavenly creatures reside, and where the believers meet with friends and family in privacy. These pavilions are distinct from the believers' own palaces and serve as spaces for gathering and enjoyment. They are crafted from gems like pearls and offer both beauty and comfort.

💡Privacy in Jannah

Privacy is a key aspect of life in Jannah, as emphasized in the video. Even within the pavilions and palaces, there is a strong sense of seclusion. For example, in one narration, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) mentions that in the tents, visitors will not be able to see each other, ensuring a high level of personal space and privacy, even during gatherings.

💡Hoor Al-'Een

'Hoor Al-'Een' are the heavenly maidens residing in the guest pavilions of Jannah. They are mentioned as part of the beauty and reward awaiting the believers in paradise. The script references them as one of the many blessings that believers will experience in the gardens and guest homes of Jannah.

💡Dirt and Soil of Jannah

The dirt and soil of Jannah are described in great detail, with mentions of saffron, musk, pearls, and rubies. The ground is said to have a fragrance, adding to the sensory beauty of paradise. This luxurious description contrasts the ordinary soil of this world with the exceptional nature of Jannah's environment.

💡Fragrance of Jannah

The fragrance of Jannah is another recurring theme in the video. In Jannah, even the ground emits a sweet fragrance, such as musk. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) mentioned that every step taken in paradise releases a pleasing aroma, enhancing the overall sense of peace and beauty in Jannah.

💡Angels in Jannah

Angels play an active role in Jannah, constantly visiting and checking up on the believers. They enter through the golden doors of the palaces and bring gifts from Allah. This reinforces the idea that Jannah is a place of continuous honor and reward, where believers are attended to by celestial beings.

💡Donating for Jannah

The act of donating worldly goods for the sake of Allah is described as a means to earn a place in Jannah. The video highlights examples like Abu Talha and Abu Dehdah, who donated their prized gardens and wealth in Medina in exchange for greater rewards in paradise. This demonstrates the value Islam places on charity and sacrifice for the afterlife.

Transcripts

play00:00

The gardens of Jannah in this world are two.

play00:03

They're the gardens in which Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la

play00:06

is remembered,

play00:07

and they are the gardens in which someone else

play00:10

is remembered for the sake of Allah.

play00:12

Now, what do I mean by that?

play00:13

The Prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam said,

play00:15

that "The circles of knowledge in this life

play00:18

are gardens of paradise."

play00:20

How so?

play00:21

Allah is praising you.

play00:22

The angels are praising you.

play00:24

And you are dwelling in a place

play00:26

where your name is only being increased in rank.

play00:29

Similarly, the Prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam said

play00:31

that when you go and visit a sick person,

play00:34

70,000 angels accompany you and Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la

play00:38

gifts you with a garden of many fruit in Jannah."

play00:41

So SubhanAllah people carry flowers to visit the sick here

play00:45

and let them know that they're

play00:47

in their thoughts and prayers.

play00:48

And Allah, who is never outdone in goodness,

play00:51

gives those who visit the sick unimaginable gardens

play00:54

of flowers, that cannot even be perceived in this world.

play00:58

So when you remember Allah, or you remember someone else

play01:01

for the sake of Allah,

play01:03

your gardens of paradise are only expanding.

play01:19

So you have your palace and you come outside

play01:22

and you don't have to worry about the weather being bad.

play01:24

It's beautiful weather in Jannah.

play01:27

But before we talk about the gardens themselves

play01:30

what are the other properties that you own

play01:32

besides your palace?

play01:33

Because remember, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala

play01:35

did not just give you your own place to dwell

play01:38

but structures of beauty all around you.

play01:41

So you go outside and what do you see?

play01:43

You see the Khiyam, which are tents or pavilions,

play01:47

that serve primarily as the guest houses.

play01:50

Ibn Al-Qayyim Rahimahullah

play01:51

said that "These pavilions are different

play01:54

from the ghura, from the apartments and from the palaces.

play01:57

They are pavilions that are situated in the gardens

play02:00

and on the beaches and the river fronts of Jannah,

play02:03

and the pavilions are for guests and for enjoyment.

play02:07

So Imam Ibn Abi al-Dunya

play02:08

He explains it in this way.

play02:10

He says that

play02:10

"All of the heavenly creatures reside in these guest homes

play02:15

and the palaces are where only the believers live.

play02:18

So this is what is built for the believers

play02:21

by the believers

play02:22

with the permission of Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la.

play02:24

So for example, Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la says

play02:26

"Hoorun maqsuratin fil khiyam"

play02:28

That it is in these guest homes that the

play02:31

"hoorun 'een"

play02:31

the maidens reside.

play02:33

And then when you read about the servants

play02:35

in Al-Jannah, then they await you

play02:37

at the gates and the doors of your palace.

play02:39

And when you want anything

play02:40

it comes to you without any effort.

play02:42

And what are the angels doing?

play02:44

They're constantly checking up on you while you are

play02:46

in your palace,

play02:47

but you retire to your palace in privacy.

play02:50

The Khiyam is also where you meet and receive friends.

play02:53

So you have this concept of the majalis,

play02:55

the gatherings in paradise.

play02:57

And so whether you are in a gathering

play02:59

let's say in one of the sahaba,

play03:01

in one of their khiyam, or someone comes to you,

play03:04

you receive each other and you are received in these Khiyam,

play03:08

in these pavilions.

play03:09

And even then, SubhanAllah, privacy is emphasized.

play03:12

The Prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam said

play03:15

"The believer in paradise, will have a tent made

play03:18

out of a single hallowed out pearl and it's 60 miles long.

play03:22

And as he visits the families and the guests

play03:24

in each one of them, no one will be able to see the other."

play03:28

So privacy is being emphasized

play03:30

just like it is with the ghuraf.

play03:32

Ibn 'Abbas radiAllahu Anhu and Ibn Mas'ud radiAllahu Anhu

play03:35

said that this tent will be a gem

play03:38

of a hollow pearl, one farsakh high

play03:41

and 50 farsakhs wide.

play03:44

Now a farsakh is about five miles.

play03:46

So you can think about

play03:48

the width and the height of these places.

play03:50

Then he said that it will have a thousand doors of gold,

play03:54

and an angel will enter from each door

play03:57

with a gift from a Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la.

play03:59

Subhanallah these are the guest houses,

play04:00

And inside these guest homes,

play04:02

you also have day beds that you can relax on.

play04:05

Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la says

play04:06

"Muttaki'eena 'ala furushin bataa'inuha min istabraq

play04:10

wa jana al-jannatayni dan"

play04:12

that these believers will recline on furnishings lined

play04:16

with fine fabric,

play04:17

and the fruit of both gardens will hang within reach,

play04:21

Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la says also,

play04:23

"Muttaki'eena 'ala rafrafin khudrin

play04:25

wa 'abqariyyin hisaan"

play04:27

That they'll be reclining on green cushions

play04:30

and fine beautiful carpets.

play04:33

And you also have where Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la says

play04:35

"Fihaa sururin marfoo'ah wa akwabun mawdoo'ah

play04:40

wa namaariqu masfoofah wa zarabiyyu mabthoothah"

play04:44

That in it are raised couches, cups put in plates,

play04:48

cushions lined up, and carpets spread all around.

play04:52

So basically you have gold doors, green drapes,

play04:56

green cushions lined up,

play04:58

and fine green carpets

play04:59

in these high ceiling guest pavilions.

play05:02

And these are again in the gardens.

play05:05

And the gardens themselves

play05:07

we haven't even started to talk about.

play05:08

Now how well,

play05:09

when you think about exotic destinations in this world,

play05:13

they always have a few things.

play05:14

They always have beautiful sand

play05:15

they've got grass and they've got water.

play05:18

And the theme of Jannah is indeed Jannaat,

play05:20

these incredible gardens that never

play05:22

cease to amaze the eye and offer absolute comfort.

play05:26

And you have all the time in the world.

play05:28

So a person could stop and admire a flower

play05:31

for a hundred years and completely be unworried about time.

play05:35

So let's start with just the ground of Jannah or its soil.

play05:38

So you got the homes, the guest homes,

play05:40

and now you're looking into your gardens.

play05:42

The Prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam said that

play05:44

the gravel of Jannah is pearl and ruby,

play05:47

and that the dirt of Jannah is saffron.

play05:49

In another narration,

play05:51

the Prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam

play05:52

said its dirt is saffron, but its soil is musk.

play05:56

Ibn Al-Qayyim Rahimahullah,

play05:57

he reconciles this by saying

play05:59

that while the color is saffron, the fragrance is musk.

play06:02

And of course Jannah has variety.

play06:04

And he said this is the best combination

play06:06

because it's the best of beauty, and radiance.

play06:09

And in some narrations,

play06:10

the Prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam

play06:11

mentions the grounds being "pure white musk."

play06:14

So again, more than one surface

play06:16

and each one being more beautiful than the other.

play06:19

And in the famous Hadith of Ibrahim 'Alayhi Salaam

play06:22

giving advice on dhikr,

play06:24

on the remembrance of Allah, which we will get to.

play06:26

He said that the plains of Jannah

play06:28

are white musk with fine grains.

play06:31

So imagine sandy white beaches,

play06:34

but imagine now that the beaches have a smell.

play06:37

and we understand it better when we look

play06:39

at the Prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam's journey

play06:40

on the night of Isra and Mi'raj.

play06:42

He said Alayhis Salatu WasSalaam

play06:44

that when Jibreel 'Alayhi Salaam

play06:45

would strike the ground in paradise

play06:48

the fragrance would come out.

play06:50

So imagine that with every step in paradise

play06:53

a fragrance is elicited

play06:55

just making it so much more beautiful.

play06:57

The feel of the soil on your feet

play06:59

how it smells, how it looks.

play07:01

All of that is Jannah.

play07:03

All of that is pleasure.

play07:04

And in one Hadith the

play07:06

Prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam said

play07:07

that the ground of paradise is white.

play07:09

And in one narration

play07:10

the Prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam mentioned hills

play07:12

and dunes of camphor.

play07:14

And he said, SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam, that people gather

play07:16

around these hills and dunes,

play07:18

and Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la

play07:19

sends upon them while they are gathered,

play07:21

breezes of mercy that continue to diffuse upon them.

play07:25

The fragrance of the musk of Jannah.

play07:28

And when the Sahaba used to hear of these gardens,

play07:31

They knew that the gardens

play07:32

of this world meant nothing compared to them.

play07:34

When Abu Talha

play07:35

radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu

play07:36

heard

play07:37

"Lan tanaalu al-birra hatta tunfiqoo mimma tuhiboon"

play07:40

that you will not achieve righteousness

play07:42

or its reward being Jannah

play07:45

until you spend of that which you love most.

play07:48

So he comes to the Prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam

play07:50

and he says,

play07:51

"Ya Rasulullah"

play07:52

I have this garden of mine in Medina

play07:54

and it is the most prized garden in Medina.

play07:57

It was a garden in front of the masjid

play08:00

of the Prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam

play08:01

Bir Rooha

play08:02

and it had all sorts of springs and trees.

play08:06

And Abu Talha said

play08:07

I couldn't think of anything more beloved to me than this.

play08:10

So I'm giving away this garden

play08:12

because he was seeking that garden in Jannah.

play08:15

And when Abu Dehdah

play08:16

radiAllahu Ta'ala Anhu heard

play08:18

"Mandhaladhi yuqridullaha qardan hasana fa yuda'ifahu lah"

play08:23

Who will loan to Allah a beautiful loan,

play08:26

so that Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la

play08:28

will multiply and grant him a generous reward?"

play08:31

he immediately comes to the Prophet

play08:32

SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam and he says

play08:33

"Here is a garden with 600 palm trees

play08:38

and I'm giving it for this garden from

play08:40

Allah Subh'anahu Wa Ta-A'la."

play08:42

And when he comes to his garden

play08:43

to tell his wife that he donated it

play08:46

his wife was picking dates with their son

play08:49

and he says,

play08:50

"Ya Umm Dehdah" "Oh Umm Dehdah"

play08:53

Leave this garden for I sold it for a garden in Jannah.

play08:57

And she starts knocking the dates out

play08:59

of her son's hand saying,

play09:00

"Rabihal baiy', rabihal baiy', rabihal baiy'"

play09:03

This is a profitable trade,

play09:04

This is a profitable trade, this is a profitable trade.

play09:08

And the Prophet SallAllahu 'Alaihi Wasallam says,

play09:09

in amazement of this,

play09:11

how many bundles of date palms are there in Jannah for

play09:14

Abu Dehdah radiAllahu ta'ala Anhu

play09:16

Now, how many gardens of Jannah

play09:18

do you sit in, in terms of gardens of knowledge?

play09:21

And how many gardens of Jannah,

play09:23

do you make yourself by visiting the forgotten?

play09:26

And how many gardens of Jannah,

play09:28

have you purchased by donating the goods of this world?
