Transcripts
right now in
2024 this may be the best time to buy a
fender player Stratocaster as you see
right now I have two guitars and one of
them is a fender player Strat and the
other one is a Fender American
professional 2 I guess I'm making my
first point in the fact that I haven't
told you which one's which and you don't
know yet this player Strat comes in at
around
$679 I believe it is and the American
professional 2 comes in just under $18
$0000 this guitar is well over double
what the value of this guitar is but I
believe that this guitar may actually be
a better bang for your buck but let's
get right into it first thing I want to
talk about is the common features
between these two guitars and get ready
because this is a long list so long that
I actually have a a list in front of me
right now so I don't forget anything
first of all for you tonewood Believers
out there both of these guitars are made
of Alder both bodies are Alder both both
necks are c-shaped necks both guitars
have medium jumbo Frets 25 1/2 in scale
lengths and a 9 and 1/2 in fretboard
radius both guitars have stamped twoo
tremolo systems and both of these
guitars do not come with I repeat do not
come with locking tuners both of these
guitars have proprietary Fender pickups
this one has the classic Fender Strat
pickups I'm not exactly sure what the
name of those is because I couldn't it
just said Fender proprietary pickups on
everything these are actually Fender
player pickups with Alo 5 magnets okay
sorry I don't know the Alo Pro is a is a
seamour Duncan I was looking at but
truly pickups are kind of open to
interpretation right it's just a matter
of what inspires you more like for
example here check this out let's listen
to both of them really quick let me know
what you think check this out standard
neck position Strat ready
[Music]
[Applause]
okay now let's listen to the American
strap
[Music]
now let's check him out in the bridge
position okay oh yeah what is that one
[Music]
pardon me wants to do that all again but
with like a blindfold test on to see
which one you truly think sounds
objectively better which one is your
favorite I mean like which one truly
sounds just flat out better cuz for this
price difference one of them better
sound better I don't know if I'm just
listening with my wallet or not but
something about this sounds really
really great but I also must say that
this like this guitar makes me feel
something it really does this one
actually has a synthetic bone nut this
one has a real bone nut but now we're
getting into the differences so let's
talk about that let's talk about the
differences real quick
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
[Applause]
w
[Applause]
[Music]
oh oh oh
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
[Music]
[Applause]
[Music]
really quick let me talk about what the
actual differences that I spot about
these guitars are so the American comes
with a hard shell case the mexican-made
fender player comes with no case no soft
case nothing again this has the standard
Alo magnet pickups and this has the
fender proprietary pickups but as you
heard a second ago is one objectively
better I don't know you tell me I'm
really excited to know what you think
you have to pay this is actually
probably worth every penny to me is that
there is a heel cutaway you've heard me
talk about it on so many of my videos
how much I hate that they don't cut the
heels away on like Fender strats and
like some charels and stuff like that
and this is all you have to pay all you
have to spend is $1,800 to get a cutaway
on the heel but wait this one comes with
this neat little feature when you push
the tone knob it actually pops up and so
it's a push push knob and I think I said
this wrong and I might make a video
about this but in my every level of
Stratocaster video I said that it pops
you automatically these like to the
position four that's what it does on the
Cory Wong Strat apparently that's not
the case on this one this one when you
push this it engages the neck pick up so
if you are all the way down here and you
turn this on you pop it up it'll also
engage the neck pickup at the same time
which means that if you're all the way
like let's say you're in position three
in the middle it'll automatically engage
these two right so it gets something
similar to position four but if you are
in position two right one all the way
down two up then you have all three
pickups engaged simultaneously which
sounds something like this
[Music]
it's a very very creamy sound that's the
only way I can explain it what is the
point the point here that I think I'm
trying to make is that every couple
years like you know there's always that
one person that has a squire that
they're like this was the best year for
Squires if you bought a squire this year
was made in the blah blah blah Factory
and it was made with the same paint and
the same pickups because there was a
fire or some some crazy thing like that
they always have that story and every
now and then there's there's a shift
where it becomes so not worth it to buy
the high-end stuff and it becomes more
worth it to buy the the mid-range kind
of stuff or low-end stuff and then those
flip right where the low-end stuff is so
bad that it's offensive and the high-end
stuff is so good but it's super
expensive and I think we're in the
middle right now at least what it seems
to me we're in the middle of one of
those shifts where I could easily easily
gig with both of these guitars and the
fender player Series has just become so
good and so accessible for most players
that I think it's it really might be
more worth it right now to pick one of
these up now I'm also going to point out
that let's say you don't like the
electronics right because like
everything's essentially the same wood
the same Hardware but people will
sometimes say like oh the electronics
are the difference for an extra $400
which don't get me wrong $400 is a lot I
understand that you can buy a fully
loaded pick guard you could just take
this one off and put the new one with
all of it with all the real electri RCS
from an American Strat directly in it I
have links you could check it out for
yourself go see and again $400 is a lot
of money but $700 plus $400 does not
equal
$1,800 I'm going to tag both of these
guitars in this video as well as put
links below so you could compare them
side by side for yourself and make your
own opinion and I also did a video
called every level of Stratocaster where
I showcase 10 different guitars like
Strat is guitars sometimes times and
that video will be right here if you
want to check that out
