the fight to protect our planet has
reached a fever pitch in 2021 and gen z

these young folks have grown up
surrounded by the warnings of a warming
planet and seeing the effects of it
firsthand the climate crisis was
happening already not in 50 or 100 years
like i often saw in the media chia
besides no stranger to the fight for our
planet it's in her blood i always say
that my parents are the ones who
inspired me my
dad was indigenous from the ultimate
community he knew that there was this
disconnect between protecting people and
nature
and my mom in chile she started seeing
how the government was building dams
without really caring about the
ecosystem so i just absorbed all of that
growing up when she has started school
she eagerly signed up for the
environment club but it didn't take long
for her to realize that she wanted to do
more we need to take care of mother
earth because mother takes care of us
so i started organizing the climate
strike putting posters all over they
would be taken down so i would put them
up again but the day of this strike 600
kids were at the lobby waiting to walk
out after galvanizing hundreds of her
fellow students to walk out of school
they set their sights on bigger goals we
got to organize our biggest ever strike
on september 20th which was 300 000
people in new york cia forging ahead
focused on the message that saving the
planet can start with small acts
in order to get people involved i tell
them that they don't need to change
their lives i think that a lot of people
don't see solutions as being here right
now they're waiting for the next
innovation to happen
and there's a lot of things that we can
already implement the next big step for

and leaders to begin solving the climate
crisis on a global scale we're really
excited to be able to go to glasgow and
confront all of these governments who
are not doing enough and i want my
children to not be worried about climate
instability and climate disasters so i'm
