Transcripts

play00:00

Hi guys! Welcome back to Beauty Within!

play00:02

We have a super, super exciting episode

play00:05

because we want to kick off what we're going to name [as] the DECIEM Week!

play00:10

DECIEM [is] otherwise known as "The Abnormal Beauty Company,"

play00:13

and this is a skincare brand that you guys all love,

play00:16

you rave about [and] you guys ask us endless questions about!

play00:19

And we actually had the special opportunity to meet their team members,

play00:23

and really learn more about what they stand for,

play00:26

and everything especially during these times,

play00:28

I think it's more than important to recognize these values!

play00:39

So we have the special and honorary guest Nafisah Abdalla who is the...

play00:44

*Fel laughs*

play00:45

I'm just going to throw it over to you to introduce yourself

play00:48

because I tried so many times to remember the title!

play00:51

But could you please share with us what you do for DECIEM or The Ordinary's brands

play00:57

and just tell us a little bit about it!

play00:59

My official title is: "Science Communications Associate Manager"

play01:02

We're a part of a bigger team called the "scientific team"

play01:05

and essentially our primary role is to try to

play01:08

communicate the science behind our products,

play01:10

the technologies or the concepts

play01:12

in a much more digestible format for our audience to understand

play01:16

and also to learn alongside with us.

play01:17

Fel: As you guys have realized, there's a lot of chemical sounding ingredients,

play01:22

names and products [and] it can get a little bit confusing, right?

play01:26

Nafisah: Absolutely! Absolutely!

play01:27

And it's all part of science! There's always something new to learn,

play01:31

there's always going to be a new concept or a new phrase or a new term!

play01:36

One of them being my title! *laughs*

play01:38

So pivoting off that, I think DECIEM and what Beauty Within does

play01:42

is try to just offer you guys as much information as possible in the most simple [and] fun way!

play01:47

So today, we gathered the...

play01:49

top 3 ingredients, I guess you would say:

play01:52

vitamin C, niacinamide, and the retinoid family or retinol family!

play01:57

And you guys have a bunch of products in these categories which I think,

play02:02

we would love to pick your brain, get into the nitty-gritty details, and just...

play02:07

ask the questions [that] our community has asked us!

play02:10

And we think, what better person than to...

play02:12

you know, share with us her knowledge than you!

play02:15

(*Fel and Nafisah laughs*)

play02:16

Fel: And we will do a giveaway at the end of this video

play02:20

so Nafisah can share with you guys what you'll be getting there :)

play02:24

So let's just get into it!

play02:26

Alrighties! Going in and kicking it off with probably one of the favorited ingredient right now!

play02:34

And it's niacinamide or vitamin B3!

play02:38

So I'm gonna let Nafisah share a little bit about why it might be so popular,

play02:43

how it really benefits the skin,

play02:45

and where we can see it in the products!

play02:47

Absolutely! So as you said Fel, I mean,

play02:49

niacinamide is one of the most beloved ingredients within skincare right now!

play02:54

And as it should be!

play02:55

Probably the most primary benefit that people are in love with

play02:59

is the fact that it helps with congested skin.

play03:02

So, for people who currently experience a lot of...oily skin or visible shine,

play03:07

niacinamide is absolutely perfect for that because

play03:10

it helps to clear your congestion, it helps to balance your sebum production,

play03:15

and it also sort of helps to minimize the visibility of enlarged pores.

play03:18

It's like a superstar ingredient that can...

play03:21

that kind of does it all!

play03:22

It's one of those ingredients that has been heavily researched for a long time.

play03:26

And it's just not in the aspect of just congested skin,

play03:28

but also it's other benefits in terms of addressing signs of age,

play03:32

addressing texture irregularities that may arise due to other skin conditions,

play03:37

For example, a common one would be any texture irregularities as a result from suffering from acne,

play03:42

a lot of people will tend to use niacinamide cause it's not invasive,

play03:45

and it is one of those ingredients that where it's sort of takes its time to create the results,

play03:50

but in a way where it wouldn't induce any sort of like

play03:54

very fast skin resurfacing or anything like that!

play03:57

So it is very well tolerated by a wide majority of people

play04:00

and I think that also contributes to its popularity as well.

play04:03

Because there are a lot of questions about how to properly use the product,

play04:08

and I think the top one is...

play04:09

How would you say to people that they can approach using niacinamide with vitamin C?

play04:14

Vitamin C again, it's one of those very well studied ingredients within [the] cosmetic industry.

play04:19

Nafisah: It's been heavily researched in terms of its benefits for addressing signs of aging,

play04:23

for uneven skin tone,

play04:25

and also building up the density of the skin in terms of increasing its strength,

play04:29

[and] smoothing out the surface...

play04:31

so there's a lot of goodness when it comes to vitamin C.

play04:34

However, there is controversy in terms of combining niacinamide and vitamin C.

play04:38

And you'll find that there's a lot of differing opinions within the industry.

play04:41

And also within users as well!

play04:43

So we do take that into consideration alongside

play04:46

the research that is out there in terms of the combination of the two together.

play04:49

So,

play04:50

my best advice for people who want to reap the benefits of both ingredients [is]

play04:54

even if you are not a first time user of both,

play04:56

I believe the best practice would be to alternate between the two.

play04:59

And then see how your skin reacts? (Nafisah: Yes!)

play05:02

So I want to ask you maybe a little bit about formulation.

play05:06

Like, what does the zinc help with in this niacinamide concoction of serum?

play05:11

That's a great question actually! We get that question all the time!

play05:13

So...

play05:14

The way I like to explain it is:

play05:17

think of Batman and Robin!

play05:19

A lot of people will question: "well..."

play05:21

"What is the point of Robin if you already have Batman?"

play05:24

And the alternative to that is:

play05:25

"Well, what's the bad thing about having both?"

play05:28

Both have their individual benefits.

play05:29

I mean, zinc also helps with clearing out skin congestion as well.

play05:33

So, the combination of both is only simply to amplify that effect within the skin as well.

play05:38

Nafisah: It's not to say that the effects of niacinamide is dependent on zinc or vice versa,

play05:43

it's just that by combining the two together, you do get a really great package!

play05:47

So Batman and Robin can help save the world!

play05:50

Zinc and Niacinamide save congested skin! :)

play05:52

Yes! Oh my god! I love that analogy!

play05:55

I think it always makes it easier to understand when you paint a mental picture of it!

play06:00

Absolutely! I'm all for simplicity, you know?

play06:02

We don't need complications! (Fel: Yes!)

play06:04

Oh my gosh! So speaking of simplicity...

play06:07

So there's another question in terms of layering:

play06:10

"Is it okay to use the Niacinamide 10% + Zinc [1%] together together at the same time

play06:14

with The Ordinary 7% Glycolic Acid Toner?"

play06:17

That is a great example of...

play06:21

taking into consideration the activity of the ingredients

play06:24

or the powerful "hero" ingredients together.

play06:27

Similar to the niacinamide and the vitamin C, there's also

play06:30

a little bit of conspicuous-y between...

play06:33

"what is the actual answer?"

play06:34

"Is there a conflict? Is there not a conflict?"

play06:36

But our primary concern is to take into consideration the skin tolerance of the user.

play06:41

So if you're a person who's already using the glycolic acid toner,

play06:44

and you're already probably using it in the evening,

play06:46

So we'd recommend to you the niacinamide in the morning,

play06:49

and then ultimately change with the glycolic acid serum in the evening.

play06:53

And what are some things that if people were to dabble into the [vitamin C] powder,

play06:57

[that] maybe they should be aware of?

play06:59

Because I think... it might seem a little intimidating at first.

play07:02

It's like, "Is this too little? Is it too much?"

play07:04

"How do I know how to kind of formulate it?"

play07:07

Because you are essentially acting as your own chemist at that point!

play07:11

Absolutely! Absolutely!

play07:12

And you know what? Let's be honest.

play07:14

Sometimes one can get carried away within that experience.

play07:17

If you're anything like me, you're like:

play07:18

"Ugh!" The whole thing!

play07:21

So it is a great point that you make!

play07:23

To be honest, it's very much down to what is currently within your skincare routine.

play07:27

So for example:

play07:28

if you are in love with a moisturizer you're using,

play07:31

it's as simple as just incorporating within the moisturizers.

play07:34

So you can just put a little dab on the palm of your hand and then,

play07:36

dip your finger [and] get a little bit of the powder and mix it in.

play07:40

And then once it's dissolved, you can apply it on.

play07:42

If you are a serum type of person,

play07:43

a hyaluronic acid serum is great!

play07:47

In terms of getting that consistency, it's actually really great due to the fact that it's clear,

play07:51

so you can actually tell when the powder has dissolved right away in comparison to a cream.

play07:56

In terms of the texture that you're looking to get,

play08:00

the powder should dissolve within your chosen base very quickly.

play08:04

If it is taking time, then maybe you should choose a different suitable base

play08:07

that could get you that texture that you want.

play08:09

I want to know your tips to prevent any sort of textural feeling.

play08:15

Cause you know, serums aren't supposed to leave a super sticky feeling,

play08:18

but some people have said, you know, that has happened.

play08:21

So I'm just wondering what they might be doing something wrong,

play08:24

or how they can avoid overdoing it and leading to things like pilling and all that stuff.

play08:29

So the way that I personally do it and I recommend for people to do whenever they ask me is:

play08:34

pretend that whenever you're introducing a product or putting a regimen together

play08:38

that you're getting to know new friends.

play08:40

You want to get to know what they like [and] what they don't like,

play08:43

what are your similarities and differences?

play08:44

[It's] the exact same thing with your skincare products.

play08:46

So for example, if you have picked out:

play08:48

three or four serums,

play08:50

let's say three serums for argument's sake.

play08:51

And you are trying to see which ones to layer.

play08:54

How about you try them on individually?

play08:57

Familiarize yourself with the textures so that you know

play09:00

what kind of feeling you ultimately want at the end once you've layered all three.

play09:04

The next thing is we generally tend to

play09:06

recommend to apply from thinnest to thickest texture.

play09:10

So let's say if you have a water based serum,

play09:14

and then you have an emulsion or a cream,

play09:16

I would personally recommend to apply the water based serum first,

play09:19

due to its thin consistency.

play09:21

And then applying and topping it off with your cream or moisturizer or emulsion.

play09:26

So just, spacing it out [and] taking the time to observe,

play09:29

[and] to be mindful of what you're actually putting on

play09:32

and then see how it goes from there for future steps?

play09:35

Absolutely. I mean, don't get me wrong.

play09:37

It can also be complicated because...

play09:40

depending on the formulation type as well,

play09:42

So let's say for example,

play09:43

if the cream that you're applying is in oil-in-water or water-in-oil,

play09:47

that would actually make a difference in terms of the overall effect after you've layered on all the products.

play09:53

Because depending on the type of emulsion,

play09:55

that could also ultimately affect how the serum,

play09:58

whether it's an oil based serum or water based serum would layer on on top.

play10:02

So some people may then experience the pilling because of the formulation type itself,

play10:07

as opposed to them applying too much or too little.

play10:11

And I just want to comment a little bit about the 10% [niacinamide].

play10:15

I think people can easily get caught up in numbers.

play10:18

They think the higher, the better,

play10:19

So what would you say about like,

play10:21

you know, 2%, 5% niacinamide...10% and anything above?

play10:25

That is a great question and I think it's the topic that is forever going to take precedence in because

play10:31

there's always that notion that "the more, the better," right?

play10:34

But that isn't necessarily the case.

play10:36

I think what we need to remind ourselves is

play10:38

number one: research is there for a reason, right?

play10:41

So the important question is to know that

play10:44

whatever percentage it's [the product] at,

play10:46

it is actually going to bring the intended benefits that we are looking for.

play10:50

So...

play10:51

in terms of niacinamide specifically,

play10:54

according to all the scientific literature that's out there that we've personally looked into,

play10:59

the recorded minimum efficacy showed concentration is somewhere around 2.5%.

play11:05

It's where they've recorded in the clinical trials seeing any benefits within the volunteers that took place.

play11:10

In terms of answering the question as to why 10% [niacinamide],

play11:13

is because we feel that that percentage is going to bring about efficacious results

play11:18

in a suitable period of time.

play11:21

But then at the same time, given the format that we offer it in,

play11:24

we also have that option for people to dilute it with other serums that they would want to combine it with

play11:30

given that they don't conflict.

play11:32

So it always comes down to how well you know your skin

play11:35

and then pinpointing what it is that you actually need,

play11:38

because it's not about, you know,

play11:39

like layering so many things on all the time!

play11:42

Absolutely! Absolutely!

play11:44

And I think what I love about skincare in general

play11:46

is that there's no right or wrong in terms of trying to get it right.

play11:50

You know? It's always going to be an evolving journey for you,

play11:54

and it's always going to be a journey of where you're going to find out new things

play11:58

and learning new things about your skincare.

play12:00

And the skin changes, right?

play12:01

We as human beings, we grow not in terms of age,

play12:04

but also in terms of our organs and skin being one of them.

play12:07

So it is absolutely fine for you to switch up your skincare routine.

play12:10

It's absolutely fine for you to continue using the same products if it's been working for you

play12:15

and you're really happy with the results, why not?

play12:18

And we just wanna let you know that DECIEM is working very hard

play12:22

to concoct many more formulations with niacinamide!

play12:27

Fel: Alrighties!

play12:28

So jumping into another cult favorite: vitamin C!

play12:33

So vitamin C is another one of those really well researched

play12:38

potent antioxidants that offer the skin so many benefits

play12:41

like from brightening to anti-aging,

play12:43

So could you tell us how it works on the skin,

play12:46

why it's so good, why The Ordinary and other brands also have a bunch of different formulations

play12:52

from water based ones to oil based ones?

play12:55

Go for it, Nafisah!

play12:57

Alright!

play12:58

So vitamin C is one of my favorite, favorite products

play13:02

because of how diverse it is in terms of its benefits

play13:05

and the way that it works within the skin.

play13:07

So not to get too technical,

play13:08

[but] I think the best way for me to describe how it works is that,

play13:11

once it's applied on the skin, there are multiple pathways that utilize it for various reasons.

play13:16

In terms of what are the outcomes of those multiple pathways being there and being utilized,

play13:22

that's where the multiple benefits come about.

play13:24

So you have your antioxidant support,

play13:27

you have your uneven skin tone being addressed,

play13:29

you have your signs of aging being addressed.

play13:31

[By] combining that altogether and attributing that to vitamin C, I believe it's amazing!

play13:35

And then to your note about the different formats and the different types of formulations

play13:39

that it can be included in,

play13:42

That is also one of the main reasons why I love it!

play13:43

For example, within The Ordinary portfolio of vitamin C serums,

play13:48

we do have our oil based serum, we do have our water based serum

play13:52

that both utilize Vitamin C derivatives.

play13:55

We have vitamin C powder where you just get the full goodness of the powder itself:

play14:00

raw and right to you.

play14:02

And then you'll also have the suspension!

play14:05

So i think just having that vitamin C portfolio within The Ordinary

play14:09

is just a testament to just how diverse the ingredient is.

play14:12

What would you suggest is best for like a beginner's entry into Vitamin C

play14:17

if they haven't ever used it before?

play14:19

What's the best entryway in the portfolio of vitamin C?

play14:22

I would say the best way is to go into it with an open mind

play14:26

and to try and just have fun with it!

play14:27

So if you're looking for a DIY experience,

play14:31

the powder is great because you could physically adjust the concentrations that you want.

play14:36

So if you are a new beginner,

play14:38

it's a little tiny amount than what's recommended within the directions.

play14:42

If you want an all rounder overall,

play14:46

ready serum [that's] good to use,

play14:48

then you have the Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2%.

play14:52

And that also combines the additional ingredient of Alpha Arbutin to help

play14:56

address the uneven skin tone aspect more.

play14:59

If you are already a familiar user of vitamin C,

play15:02

then you can actually build up to higher concentrations.

play15:06

So for example, the Vitamin C 23% Suspension or the 30% Suspension.

play15:12

For someone who's a new user, they might find the tingling experience a little too much,

play15:18

so I would either recommend starting off with the powder where you're able to adjust the amount,

play15:21

or starting with the Ascorbic Acid 8% serum.

play15:24

Okay, so that's The Ordinary alternatives,

play15:26

but NIOD also offers so many other great products,

play15:31

and it's got like long term health of skincare in focus.

play15:34

So can you suggest us some products NIOD because we're so excited about that brand as well?

play15:40

Yeah! Absolutely!

play15:41

I personally love NIOD as well

play15:43

not only because of the amount of technology they have,

play15:46

but also the product concepts as well!

play15:49

I would personally recommend checking out the Re-Pigment,

play15:53

and also checking out [the] Non-Acid Acid Precursor.

play15:56

They are formulated in such an incredible way to address uneven skin tone in multiple different pathways

play16:02

and in multiple different technologies.

play16:05

So if you are already someone who has tried or come to a conclusion that

play16:09

Vitamin C is a bit too much for your skin,

play16:11

the Non-Acid Acid Precursor is a really great alternative,

play16:14

even for people who are acid users [and] who are looking for an alternative,

play16:19

to address any uneven skin tone and overall skin radiance,

play16:21

this is your guy!

play16:23

Even with Re:Pigment, specific to uneven skin tone,

play16:27

it's a fabulous, fabulous product.

play16:28

Fel: If they realized they tried Vitamin C [and] their skin doesn't react well to it,

play16:32

what's a similar ingredient they can use that offers very similar benefits?

play16:37

I would recommend exploring alpha arbutin.

play16:40

Because alpha arbutin is really great at addressing uneven skin tone.

play16:44

It is not an ingredient that is commonly associated with experiencing tingling effects

play16:48

or anything like that on the skin.

play16:50

So, let's move it along to our last and final ingredient!

play16:55

It's retinols and retinoids and the Vitamin A family.

play16:59

I think retinol as a topic is very confusing because there's also a lot of different discussions about it

play17:06

You know, it's known for its drying kind of effects if used

play17:10

maybe not in the best way.

play17:12

So can you tell us a little bit about Vitamin A

play17:15

and how it helps the skin and why it gives those side effects potentially?

play17:20

I love vitamin A! I mean, similarly to the reasons why I love vitamin C,

play17:25

it's the exact same thing with vitamin A.

play17:26

It's a huge diverse family of different types and derivatives

play17:31

and they also vary in terms of their effects on the skin.

play17:35

So you have the type of vitamin A that is prescription only,

play17:39

And then you have the type of vitamin A that you can actually order online and you can utilize.

play17:44

But in terms of overall effect, the intended effects are all the same.

play17:48

Which is to try to achieve a more smoother skin texture and more radiant skin.

play17:52

If you're addressing signs of aging, it's a great great cosmetic ingredient to utilize.

play17:57

For people who generally tend tohave sensitive skin

play18:02

in addition to people who have compromised or broken skin,

play18:05

we definitely do not recommend to you guys to utilize retinol in any way

play18:09

due to its potency.

play18:12

So on the Ordinary's products, we see you guys have the Granactive Retinoid 2% in Squalane.

play18:19

So could you tell us a little bit about the Granactive component,

play18:23

because that's something that we don't usually see,

play18:25

and then is Retinol 2%...what does that mean for the skin and why is it formulated with squalane?

play18:30

The reason for having those two combined is not only to reap the benefits of the granactive retinoid,

play18:36

but squalane in itself is a great great ingredient overall in terms of supporting skin hydration,

play18:42

giving the skin a more moisturized and comfortable feeling.

play18:44

The granactive retinoid is a great retinoid in terms of the efficacy that it brings within the skin,

play18:50

but also in terms of how it is tolerated within the skin.

play18:53

A lot of people generally tend to complain about the fact that utilizing retinol...

play18:58

their skin tends to suffer a little bit of redness,

play19:01

so granactive retinoid is a great alternative.

play19:03

And I think one really important note to make is

play19:07

if you're like me [and] you just want to jump ship and get right to the end

play19:11

of where you have this beautiful radiant skin,

play19:14

But when it comes to... (Fel: Which you do, by the way!)

play19:16

Let's just be real! (Nafisah: Thank you! So do you!)

play19:19

(*Fel + Nafisah laughs*)

play19:20

But I think it's really important to take into consideration the importance of developing skin tolerance.

play19:26

The reason for that is because

play19:29

by allowing your skin to adjust in its own time,

play19:32

it will help avoid the chances of you developing any skin irritation

play19:36

or sensitivities to the ingredient or the formula itself.

play19:40

So if you're a first time user, start from low [concentrations] and work your way up.

play19:43

Yeah, because I have been [one of] those people who was like,

play19:47

"1% retinol! It doesn't sound like that much!"

play19:48

And then I was like, "Oh my god! This is painful! What happened?!"

play19:52

(*Fel laughs*)

play19:53

So let's just go into some questions about retinol because there are a few.

play19:57

This question has to do with what retinols work well together with,

play20:01

which is, you know, a HUGE subject matter!

play20:05

Let's just go: "How do I add a retinol 0.5% into my PM routine?"

play20:11

Nafisah: In order to know how it would fit,

play20:14

we need to take into consideration what you currently are using in your PM routine.

play20:19

So let's say your PM routine consists of:

play20:21

using a cleanser to wash your face,

play20:23

and then utilizing a hydrating serum,

play20:26

and then the retinol...the retinoid would come after that.

play20:30

If you are not using a hydrating serum or you incorporated a cream afterwards,

play20:35

then I would recommend to apply the cream at the end to seal all that goodness in,

play20:40

and just follow the guidelines of thinnest to thickest consistency in terms of texture.

play20:45

"Can a teenager introduce a retinoid into their routine for small acne and such?"

play20:50

"And if so, which do you recommend?"

play20:52

I think this is a very popular realm of questions as well.

play20:56

Like kind of, when is [it] too early to start with retinol?

play21:00

I think it is a great topic to bring about because

play21:02

skincare has become really popular with [the] younger demographic.

play21:06

But one thing that I see commonly done is neglecting the fact that...

play21:10

you know, if you're a teenager, your skin is currently going through a lot of changes.

play21:15

So what my work for a twenty-something year old

play21:17

might not necessarily be the same experience for you as a teenager.

play21:21

What I'd highly recommend is to take a step back and really define what your primary skin concerns are.

play21:27

If it is the case of texture irregularities, there are alternatives that are really great

play21:31

and really efficacious just the same,

play21:34

but you don't have that high strength aspect to it.

play21:38

And we know you guys have a ton of more questions,

play21:40

but I think these were the ones that just stood out the most as to the repetition that we kept seeing.

play21:46

So we hope we answered your questions!

play21:49

And we really wanted to give back to you guys!

play21:51

So we decided [that] The Ordinary Daily Set is probably one of the greatest starter packs!

play21:58

That you guys have been able to offer because it includes three awesome products!

play22:02

It's got the Squalane Cleanser, the Hyaluronic Acid [serum],

play22:06

and the Moisturizing Factors!

play22:09

Nafisah: I love this set because of its simplicity.

play22:11

So this set is particularly suitable for someone who is very new to the world of skincare routines.

play22:18

It's also really suitable for someone who's looking for a really simple yet effective routine

play22:23

in terms of just addressing your primary skin concern of hydration.

play22:27

Yes! Love it! So we're so excited to offer that to you 15 lucky winners!

play22:32

So just check in our description box what you can do to enter that!

play22:36

With skincare [and] with anything personal, there are a lot of questions naturally.

play22:40

So Nafisah, could you just share with us your online resources that DECIEM is offering

play22:44

for people who need a little bit more help and assistance?

play22:47

Yeah, absolutely!

play22:48

So we pride ourselves in making sure that we stand by our commitment to science first.

play22:54

You know, in order for us to be as transparent as possible,

play22:56

we also need to be really real.

play22:58

So in terms of resources and reaching out,

play23:00

we have our 24/7 system within Instagram [so] you can reach out to us there!

play23:06

Drop in comments in our posts with your questions!

play23:09

But we also have the DECIEM At Home Program that we currently have,

play23:12

so if you were to log onto the website,

play23:13

you can have a chat with our ambassadors who are really really lovely in terms of

play23:19

getting to know what your concerns are and walking you through,

play23:22

to make sure that whatever recommendations that we are to give you,

play23:26

it is the best one that is suited to your particular skin concerns.

play23:29

And just [as] a last parting note,

play23:31

I think what DECIEM really stands for

play23:33

is something that's so rooted in what we all need to focus on, which is kindness.

play23:37

Kindness to ourselves, to those around us...

play23:40

So is there anything that you want to share with our audience?

play23:43

Because it's just the best time to be able to, you know, that everyone is here together.

play23:48

And I think that unity...

play23:50

Even though we do typically just talk about skincare, it's so much more than that.

play23:54

It symbolizes many different things that we can tie together.

play23:57

Yeah! Absolutely. And...

play23:59

I feel really grateful for being part of a company that recognizes that

play24:03

and that actually has developed...

play24:06

We develop action steps in order to go about trying to make a change,

play24:10

and hopefully a life-long change that would stick.

play24:13

The one thing that will always always prevail is kindness,

play24:17

understanding, empathy, and more than anything, just standing by your words with action.

play24:23

And it's all about making sure that the actions you take is done with the right intent.

play24:28

And it is done so in a way that hopefully the world becomes safer for everyone,

play24:34

and not just for a specific group of people.

play24:36

And one thing that I really want to mention is:

play24:39

everyone makes mistakes.

play24:41

If you're a person who had a particular belief and you're coming to the realization that

play24:45

actually maybe this is not right,

play24:47

Or maybe I have never thought about it in this way,

play24:50

it is absolutely fine to come to the realization that you had it wrong,

play24:54

or it's fine to come to the realization that you didn't know it all.

play24:57

The important part is: what are you going to do about it?

play25:00

So have the difficult conversations.

play25:04

Get comfortable with the uncomfortable.

play25:06

And stand in solidarity in order to make the world a better place for everyone.

play25:11

So thank you so much, Nafisah, for being on our episode!

play25:14

We are truly humbled that you were able to give us your time with everyone else at DECIEM!

play25:20

Thank you so much for having me!

play25:21

I really really enjoyed this! And I hope that whatever information I shared

play25:25

will help any and all of you!

play25:27

And like you said, if there's any questions or concerns that you have in terms of our products

play25:33

or in terms of skincare in general, we love a good conversation anyways!

play25:37

So pop'em [and] reach out to us and we can't wait to respond back!

play25:40

We will be seeing more DECIEM in the next episode!

play25:44

And until then...see you guys later!

play25:49

Bye!

play25:51

Bye!

play25:52

(Special thanks to Nafisah Abdalla from DECIEM for joining us! <3)
