Hi, my name is Lilan Sanchez. I am from Des Moines, Iowa.

I'm a third-year student studying political science, ethics and public policy, philosophy and a minor in French.

I've always been super interested in policy and how the law works.

When I think that the political science major really was going to provide me with a foundation to truly understand how systems and how the government works.

So far it's been helping me understand the world around me and understand politics around the world as well.

So I think that what the political science department does is it gives you a really comprehensive education.

In my experience working with college students, I have observed that the students that are more involved and also work often are the ones that can manage their time better.

Because they know they have these other commitments outside the classroom, so I definitely think that's the case for a lot of these students including Lillian for sure.

So through my major, I've been able to have super amazing opportunities with getting to know faculty as well as participating in extracurricular activities.

I'm also involved in Phi Alpha Delta, the pre-law fraternity, as President this year, as well as the trio SSS peer mentoring program.

After graduation, I hope to attend law school, I would be interested in practicing international human rights

or working locally with the government.

You know you know you're in college, everybody's a college student, but when you really care about the issues then you start getting involved.

And so I think that's definitely important that she's she's sharing her own experience with older leaders on campus.
