Andy welcome back to another FPL video

in this one it's some of my early

thoughts ahead of the gameweek five

deadline so I'm going to go through some

key players first of all and then talk

about my notes that I made over the

into it all right let's start with E

because it's now one return in four

games for him so far this season and as

we found out over the weekend he's not

Crystal palace's full-time penalty taker

so he has become a slightly worse FPL

option and I'm going to talk about what

to do with him in a minute just on the

Crystal Palace penalty taken situation

this is what glasner said we have two we

always talk about it before it's between

Mata and E we say you decide on the

pitch talk together whoever feels better

takes the penalty and scores the goal

that's what they did today now side note

I always find it a little bit weird when

clubs don't have a designated penalty

Taker and then a hierarchy after that

like for Arsenal you know it's pretty

much sacka then probably odard then hav

it's at man united it's Fernandez then

rashford so there's no need for this

discussion the only thing I think this

benefits is keeping the goalkeeper

guessing not knowing whether it's going

to be Mata or e but I think when you get

a penal you want to know who's going to

take it but anyway that's probably a

topic of conversation for a different

video either way e is not completely off

penalties but the fact that matz has

just taken one and scored one and he's

in such ridiculous goal scoring form in

general over the last year I suspect he

will probably also take the next one so

let's assume for now that e is not going

to take the next couple of penalties

does he become a mustell no absolutely

not he's still a really good option and

I know people are kind of bored of me

saying that but that is how I feel about

him he's played 90 minutes every single

game so far you never have to worry

about him starting and his underlying

stats are decent outside of penalties so

so far this year in four games 0.4

expected goals per 90 0.13 expected

assist they are really good numbers for

a player that costs 7 million to a lot

of us and some of you might have bought

him in at 6.9 I still think he's really

good value so if you've got him and you

weren't planning on selling him you

don't have to sell him right the only

thing it really changes for me is on

gameweek six wild card when I've been

looking at various drafts e was an

absolute lock 90 minutes penalties he's

in my team now he's not a lock but he's

still probably going to be in there

because if I want a different player

I've mostly got to go up in price to

like a boen who's 7.4 to keep Bruno

Fernandez who's over 8 million and if I

come down in price like there's not a

huge amount of 6 point like in is

great as well so if there's a choice

between the two I would definitely take

him now but for most people you've

got space for more than for both of them

basically and if you go down to like 6.7

million or below Mada I've got no

interest in whatsoever he came off quite

early this weekend as well and that

could continue Barnes is not a

guaranteed starter mcneel is okay but

not that exciting like he's not better

than e although he is a lot cheaper

Smith row is fine Seena is okay as well

matoma not a bad option for 6.7 but the

fixtures for Brighton after this week

get quite tough you know saos but it's

just not someone I really want the point

is 6.5 mli fielders there's no real

standout for me and you get a for like

4.5 million more great stats really good

minutes as well I I just think you keep

hold of him on wild card if you want to

get rid of him fair enough if you get to

a point where you've got two or three

save transfers nothing else to do you

really want to move a on youve got money

to upgrade him fair enough but he has

not become marel he's just a slightly

worse option but it's still really good

on the flip side I should probably stop

ignoring Jean FIP mateta as much as I

have been because not only is he now

going to probably take a bunch of

Crystal palace's penalties he just can't

stop scoring in general his record over

the last year or so is absolutely

ridiculous and the underlying numbers

aren't amazing but they're still not bad

either so far this season 0.32 non pan

expected goals per 90 0.08 expected

assists and he's only 0.5 million more

than e so for 0.5 million you now get

penalties it's worth saying based on

what glasner has said they may share

them it could be that a takes the next

one so I wouldn't now say that mateta is

full-time penalty taker I just think he

probably will take the next couple but I

could be absolutely wrong about that

all that being said just like how e

hasn't become Mel all of a sudden Mata

hasn't become essential and the reason

for that is the Alternatives I think

when you look at midfielders at seven or

below it's difficult to find a nailed on

super attacking penalty taker or

anything like that whereas with forwards

you do have other options like Mata at

7.4 in isolation is not a bad price but

when you start comparing him to other

forwards it's not that cheap like calv

lean for example

has got a goal against Villa in gameweek

four goal and assist against Bournemouth

in gameweek three he's played 87 and 90

minutes in those two games he looks

pretty much nailed on as long as he can

stay fit and he will take penalties as

well and he's 5.9 million now if you

look at Palace versus Everton of course

Crystal Palace the better attacking team

you would expect them to create more

chances but any chances that Everton get

are likely to fall to calvat lein and

generally over his

career at least like the last few

seasons he's played regularly the

numbers have been pretty good so it's

not that Cal luin is better than Mata

like again in isolation but for 1.5

million saving that could be worth it

look at Chris Wood again a player that

I've mostly ignored because of worries

about minutes and rotation he started

every game he's played 80 minutes

against Liverpool 90 against wolves and

from gameweek six

onwards uh not in aforest going on a run

between gameweek 6 and I think it's

gameweek 11 they've got home games

against Fulham Palace West Ham and

Newcastle and the two away games are

Chelsea and Leicester even after that

it's IP switch at home in gameweek 13

after Arsenal away in 12 so their

fixture run is pretty good now Chris

Wood is probably not on penalties it

almost certainly will be Gibbs white but

he's only 6.1 million

so I like uh sorry I like mateta I

almost said artetta then I like mateta

more than I did before this weekend but

I'm still not convinced I would buy him

like even looking at Wild Card 6 it

wouldn't be a case of Mata or E it'd be

a case of both and then Mata would be up

against players like salanki who are

similar price and Spurs got really good

fixtures coming up or like I said I can

go for one of those cheaper forwards

that in some cases like Cal Le's got

penalties as well and they're much

cheaper so I know sometimes people think

that I've just got like agendas against

players I don't I think Mata is great if

you want to buy them you should but in

terms of thinking about the overall

structure about how people's squads look

the the play sorry the FPL managers that

are trying to fit in salar and Haren

it's difficult to also fit in Mata so

he's fine but he hasn't become Central

all of a sudden So speaking of cheap

forwards Rodrigo Min probably has to go

zero attack and returns so far this

season which doesn't always put me off

holding on to a player if I think the

returns are coming but I need to know

that that player is going to start and

with man getting benched this weekend

around jenez playing instead we just

can't guarantee that moving forward now

the usual carat Supply if you've got a

decent eighth attacker and you can just

bench is then go ahead and do that right

you don't have to rush into selling him

especially if you bought him for 6

million cuz he went up to 6.1 so even if

he does drop in price you won't lose any

money on him as long as you bought him

at 6 million so you don't have to go out

of your way to get rid of him if you

want to roll a transfer instead and your

team looks good but for most people he's

going to be a sale he's going nowhere

near a wild card and you definitely

shouldn't be buying him unless ra

gimenez goes and picks up an injury this

week or something like that but even in

that case I don't think full pictures

are that good from an attacking

perspective like Newcastle at home is

okay but then Forest away they've looked

good defensively City away is really

tough and then the next home game is

Villa at home and then it's Everton away

so I don't think the next five are great

I think man's probably got to go um I'm

going to look at the I haven't actually

checked this yet the points predictions

on fantasy football hub for six let's go

to six yeah six million and Below

forwards over the next four weeks so

player I mentioned earlier Cal I really

like him he probably is the cheap

forward that I'd be buying right now

then they've got intia interestingly

enough he did start and play 90 minutes

with mateta almost as like the number 10

so he could be decent going forward and

glasner did mention ahead of the

deadline that they've paid all that

money to play him essentially that's

what he said like they haven't paid all

that money to bench him I think is's

actually what he said but he's going to

get good minutes and I think inet is a

really good player the only thing for me

is he's like second fiddle to Mata

that's the only thing that's slightly

puts me off I think mateta is the main

man like if if inet gets minutes for 5.9

that's fine but for that same money I

can go and get Everton's main forward

instead so I don't minding but I'm not

sure I would go for him well Beck I

would completely avoid I just think his

minutes will start to reduce in the long

term and after this week Brighton's

fixtures aren't great strand lson isn't

too bad but I'd want to wait until game

week 10 onwards when walls fixtures get

good and Jamie vardy is decent I might

bring him in this week he's played 90

minutes again the are good for Lester I

quite like him so that's the top picks

Xiao Pedro then calv Luen I don't know

how I missed that um but we have to wait

and see what the diagnosis is with Xiao

Pedro's injury it doesn't sound like

it's going to be bad so he could be back

and he's still great value I think I

think fixture wise Cal Le might Trump

him like Lester away Palace at home

Newcastle at home it switch away Fulham

at home it's really good as long as he

can stay fit and he has started a lot of

games over the last season so I think if

I was buying one right now I'd buy caval

ahead of J Pedro maybe that's a little

bit knee jerky but that's how I feel

anyway like I said if you want to check

talk about Rico Lewis next and how many

times have we been here before for with

Man City players where the minute start

to look good people bring them in and

then for one reason or another it just

seems to go wrong and it probably hasn't

happened as much as we think it has but

it's happened enough where it definitely

feels like a thing and this is not a dig

at anyone that buys Man City players

because the upside is definitely there

and Rico Lewis could still be an

absolute bargain for 4.7 million but it

is a nice reminder that you've got to be

a certain type of FPL manager to buy

these Man City players that aren't

Harland right we know harland's

absolutely nowed on most of the other

players just aren't and you've got to be

prepared to deal with that and if you're

someone that is going to panic at the

first sign of a benching or an early

substitution I just wouldn't go there

it's just going to give you an absolute

headache now if you want the promising

signs from the weekend even though KL

Walker was in the team Rico Lewis still

started instead of vardo so that's

encouraging that pep guier thinks he's

played so well this season that he still

got to be in the team even if he plays

Kyle Walker the is he then got hooked at

half time presumably because it wasn't

working as well as pep had hoped and I

do worry that Kyle Walker played to get

minutes before that Arsenal game in

gameweek five I know they've got

Champions League before that but no

matter how good Rico Lewis has been I

think pet will always trust Carl Walker

in a big game like that I think he'll

play right back and vardal will play

left back and Rico Lewis won't play now

again that's probably not much of a

problem for FPL how many points are you

really expecting against Arsenal anyway

plus Rico Lewis is only 4.7 so he's not

taking up a massive part of your budget

so although it doesn't feel great that

you've only had 45 minutes against

brenford at home I still think if you

own Rico Lewis there's absolutely no

need to panic you've probably got three

other Defenders you can play instead

this week and even in game week six when

it's Newcastle away and by the time you

get to Fulham at home in seven you have

had two Premier League games I think

it's ch one champions league and one

carabal cup so four more matches before

you have to make a major decision if he

drops to 4.6 and you bought him at 4.7

or he drops to 4.5 you got him at 4.6

it's not the end of the world you might

have an absolute bargain on your hands

so for me Rico Lewis is a don't sell and

probably a don't buy like if I was wild

card in this week or in six I don't I

would put him in the team so i' be a

little bit worried about the minutes

maybe if he plays against Arsenal in the

Champions League i' I'd still put him on

gameweek six wild card but I think I

just prefer to play safer that's just

the boring manager that I am

so yeah it's frustrating I don't think

it's game over with him as an option

he's so cheap he could still be

excellent value I'm just not sure I

would buy him right now but if I had him

I'd definitely be holding on to him so I

just want to go through some notes from

the weekend as always I might go through

some of this stuff in more detail in

other videos I've got planned later this

this week so where possible I would try

and delay my transfers until till closer

to the gameweek 5 deadline and obviously

that applies for future game weeks as

well this doesn't mean that you can't

make early transfers there's no right or

wrong here it's just a little bit

riskier when there's midweek matches if

you've got a move that you know no

matter what you want to do and you're

going to be priced out if you wait I'd

still consider doing it but where

possible I prefer to delay it's just how

I play but it doesn't mean I won't make

early transfers over the next couple of

weeks when there's midweek matches but I

just wanted to make a note of that amedo

might be an okay pick he started again

this weekend and garnacho was bench so

garnacho has only started one of three

games I don't think that amalo is nailed

on but he has played 6089 and 90 in

three of the games the one that he

missed out was Liverpool maybe that's

because of how big of a game it was I

don't know but if he keeps starting for

5 million he's a decent option I mean

for 5 million you can even say that if

he gets the odd benching it's not the

end of the world I'd still prefer Morgan

Rogers I think because of the guaranteed

minutes we've seen so far although that

might not continue with champions league

and stuff like that but I think Dio is

not a bad option and from game week

eight onwards man united fixures are

pretty good so maybe I've got it wrong

with amedo I was pretty against him at

the start of the season but if he

continues to play I'm definitely

interested isak Saka Xiao Pedro I would

hold fire on selling them unless you

know for sure what you're going to do

like for me right sacka went off with a

knock in the 85th minute he'll probably

be fine he'll probably play in the

Champions League this week and I'm going

to sell him either way because it's Man

City away but again I don't want to do

that until I've got more information

about other players in my team like I'm

not sure if I want to sell Bruno or isak

isach went off at half time I think

Eddie how said it was something to do

with his eye the reason that he couldn't

play again he'll probably be fine by

next week so don't rush into anything

that you're not sure about Rogers I've

just mentioned when I talked about amodo

people are definitely frustrated with

him cuz he's played 90 minutes every

match and hasn't returned look I get it

right we want our players to return

that's the whole point of FPL but I

would just be very encouraged that he

continues to play 90 minutes and other

players around him are getting

substituted as players get back to full

fitness as Champions League starts his

minutes might go down but he is an

amazing eighth attacker if he continues

playing every match let's say it's not

90 but he keeps starting and he plays

like 70 80 minutes I'm definitely

keeping him on wild I just don't see why

you wouldn't the fixtures are really

good the returns will come he's very

unfortunate not to have at least least

one return so far and he's not a moala

or a C Palmer or a sacker of course he's

not he's only 5 million like he should

be the least of your worries right now

if you're on wild card you really don't

want him fair enough sell him I wouldn't

sit here and argue that you've got to

have him he's not essential but he is

not worth a transfer out in my opinion

unless you've got loads of money to

upgrade him to someone much better um

jotter and Diaz subbed early jot went

off before the 60th minute Diaz went off

just after even though it was in the

same substitution window I know some

people are now calling for the rule to

be changed it's one of those things it

doesn't happen very often it doesn't

matter if you go off before 60 you get

one point if you go off after you get

two like whatever it's the rules it's

really not that big of a difference um

in general though I think Jor and Diaz

come under the don't buy don't sell like

if I had them I wouldn't be worried I I

do think with jotter he does seem to be

almost linking the play more than he's

getting into good goal scoring positions

now it's a very small sample size he's

still a really good option if he keeps

starting but it does feel like Salah or

Diaz is going to be more involved in the

actual points than jotter is that being

said it's Bournemouth at home and he has

started every game so far so I'd be

pretty Keen to hold on to him but he's

not the kind of player that I would buy

like I think the next three for

Liverpool are fine like Bournemouth for

home Wolves Away Palace away but then

you've got Chelsea Arsenal Brighton

Villa is a little bit more difficult

although it is three home games in four

and I just think these early

substitutions will continue and at some

point he could just get benched and I'm

just not interested in players like that

which is why I personally wouldn't buy

them I said that at the start of the

season and they got points so as I

always say what do I know anyway Evan

nilson Mr a penalty for Bournemouth now

he might be on the next one but I think

um Iola said that they've also got two

penalty takers Evan neelon or cliver so

there's a good chance cver will take the

next one and he's only 5.4 million so

he's a little bit cheaper than the likes

of

seeno uh but he's not as nailed on so

only started three or four it was

only game week one that he missed out

and he does often get substituted early

but if he's on pen for 5.4 and he's

going to start the majority of games he

could be an option to look out for

Arsenal defense is ridiculous I I think

yesterday for like we know Arsenal

defense is great said it a million times

best defense in the league and for FPL

great because you can pretty much

guarantee who's going to play at least

like Ben White cber and probably

Gabrielle as well unlike Man City

Defenders but yes they was just a

reminder of how good they are they just

didn't give Spurs anything away from

home and I think if you weren't

considering one or two Arsenal Defenders

you will be soon and Chelsea attackers

again minutes like madai people said

after his hattick like it's his place to

lose there's no way he's going to get

benched and to be fair he hasn't been

and I'm not sure that's going to happen

anytime soon but early Subs are possible

60 Minutes against Bournemouth again I

just don't really have too much interest

in these kind of players I think Chelsea

got so many options it could change at

some point like Palmer could start on

the right like he he was on the right in

that Bournemouth game and it didn't work

that well and I don't think B uh sorry I

don't think Palmer is now a bad option

but everyone around him I would just

ignore Sancho Xiao Felix madai I just

can't see the point in going there

there's just not enough upside for me

but they could be great if they get

brilliant minutes can you guarantee that

probably not I would need to see

consistent starts for Chelsea players

outside of Palmer and Jackson for like I

don't know four or five weeks before I

was confident and by that point I've

probably missed the points anyway and

you could say that's a downside to how I

play but also it means you don't get

caught up in in the hype around players

that do well but are not necessarily

going to continue to and again I don't

want to sound like that's a dig at madai

like you shouldn't have bought him in I

still think he's a nice option I picked

him up in draft for what it's worth but

I just think in general early

substitutions like that for like jot

Diaz madai they're a thing and unless

they do well in a limited amount of

time they're just going to get

frustrating longer term that's all I

would say I mean as always in FPL

90minut players tend to be quite handy
