hello and welcome to after skills I'm at

the heart of the competition area in the

ptis and confectionary sector with an

Olympic gold medalist however Bart

Brenin who we are going to do everything

but not talk about sport we're going to

be talking about your daughter Ginger

who's competing here so firstly tell us

about what she is doing exactly here at

World skills uh Ginger our daughter

she's participating in World skills in

parer so uh she has to create something

from sugar something from chocolate

cookies everything what's delicious to

eat yes and you supporting her in that I

imagine as well uh yes yes of course uh

she has been working really hard the

last uh half a year maybe a bit shter

but uh it was incredible to see yeah how

much passion she put into her training

every day again would you say there are

any parallels between competing in a

sport at a very high level the highest

level in the Olympics and competing here

at World skills yeah definitely it is

definitely there are many uh comparisons

uh also I I mean already the opening of

World skills that was something

incredible beautiful to see and also

with all these um yeah these uh students

uh the participants it's similar like

Olympics they they have one goal they

all like to win they all passionated of

of what they're doing and that's what

they're showing here and what about the

preparation how does that compare to a

sporting event I mean in a sport yeah

they say 10,000 hours to become an

Olympic champion but to to win here

World skills I don't know how many hours

that will take but I think something

similar and I've seen our daughter

working really hard the last few months

she didn't have any holiday she was

practicing every single day it was

actually amazing to see that so is it

harder to watch your daughter compete at

this high level or is it harder to

compete yourself I mean it's always more

difficult to see someone else

participating and to practicing and

working really hard instead you're doing

it by yourself because then you have

everything in control and here you are

just watching and uh feeling with her

and and it's not yeah you don't not

really feel what's going on in a person

uh like our daughter at this in this

time but um um it's it's hard to stay on

the side here and watching her and also

like yesterday when she showed her uh uh

creation creation what she made

uh it was uh a bit hard for me to see

that could you tell us about her

creation um what guidelines was she

given uh like half a year ago maybe it

was like three months ago um she got her

uh topic what she had to make her

creation what she had to make uh grol

that's definitely something where she

was really surprised about because she

didn't know anything about it so the

Gins are puppets that are from Leon so

Le old Renown for the Gin kind of

punching Judy puppets but yeah sorry hry

that's that's why they are um but uh she

had a she has a good teacher a good

coach trainer around her from school and

they help her exactly what she had to

make and she was practicing uh so many

times uh different Creations uh they had

to start from zero but uh what they have

create right now is something incredible

and it's going to be a fantastic

experience for her thank you so much for

Expo in Leo where are you Seb yes H I'm

currently in the graphic design

technology area and uh with me to

discuss I have the graphic design

technology expert Steven Aris

representing UI how are you

I'm good Mr Sebastian how are you doing

you fine fine fine and you nice to meet

you as nice to meet you too second day

of competition um are you stressed are

you tired what but yeah I mean to be

honest we are more stressed than the

competitors because on the other end I

just realized that things are not as

easy as I felt yeah but uh the

competitors are doing a great job we've

been seeing all their works and uh you

could see some of those displayed over

here which was done by the competitors

on C1 and on the other end it just feels

great and so far everything's fine and

hopefully they give a good shot today as

well tell me a little bit uh about your

experience as a competitor and when you

are no involved uh on the expert side of

the competition now tell me more about

so it's been an year so far since I've

been the expert for United Arab Emirates

and uh honestly I never even imagined

that I would be taking up this position

yeah I mean at least so soon because I

was a competitor way back in 2022 for

the special edition and I was

representing my country which is India

and I never uh felt that another country

would approach me to be their expert and

establish the skill ecosystem and I feel

really proud and privileged to be in

this position and serve as the expert

for the United Arab Emirates country and

uh talking on a professional level it's

been a great journey of uh sharing

knowledge and also learning from the

competitors as well and also you get to

know the competitors more on an

interpersonal level it changed your life

this competition your life Chang after

this competition yes it did uh I

wouldn't say it changed but it

transitioned into a great uh career

pathway for me uh I mean in this role I

get to learn more about leadership and

management skills and also how to handle

people and not just study the skill but

studying people which I believe is the

toughest uh job that's out there and uh

to raise the competitors level on a

World skills occupational standards it's

not a easy thing and it takes a lot uh

to um train the competitors and

hopefully we've given our best how do

you feel the competition experience

benefits you and and NC's V journey to

becoming a

professional so uh before World skills

and after World skills there's been a

big difference in terms of the knowledge

and the experience that I've gained uh

of my skill because uh usually it's I

mean you don't get a focused specialized

training of your skill when you're

studying in an University or a college

or it could be any of those design

schools you just get to learn the theory

part of it but the technical aspects as

per what the industry demands and

expects from the competitors you get to

uh study and practice it every day only

through competitions or only through

training of World skills level so I

think that's the best part about it and

uh you could see all the past alumni

members of the World skills competitions

they have uh achieved so much in the uh

last few years and one such great

example would be sheta ratanpura who led

the opening ceremony along with the

president Mr Chris amris and I'm sure uh

it's a great Pro moment for the graphic

design Community as well yeah exactly in

your opinion what emerging Trends or

Technologies is graphic design have the

potential to revolutionize how we solve

complex um complex Global problems and

second question how can designer like

the future World skills designer

leverage these

Innovations so one best example would be

of the generative AI generative

artificial intelligence that has taken

over across almost every skill and if

you personally take graphic design

technology out there uh what takes

months or weeks to achieve now could be

done within a couple of seconds all

you've just got to do is enter the right

prompt click on the enter button and and

uh the sky is your limit you could uh I

mean the imagination is the

possibilities are Limitless and you

could generate everything out of your

craziest fantasies and one such best

example would be at the try out skill

area where you get to see all the uh

competitors or the uh visitors coming

and trying out the skill which we never

used to have it before so you could see

the impact of AI love everybody starting

to enjoy a skill like graphic design and

uh yeah it's pretty much evolving around

the global for this D2 We are 30 people

uh 30,000 people in this uh in this area

incredible uh the affluence in this in

this world skid competition Le what is

your opinion what is your feeling about

this

participation I feel really happy to be

part of this World skills Leon

competition because uh in the special

edition we kind of had the competition

in an isolated manner we didn't have

these many visitors coming around and uh

the the networking over here is just

amazing the opportunities that could be

created and also to see all the skills

under one room

competing here in another country it's

it's just it feels so amazing and proud

to be here and I feel really lucky and

privileged to be uh taking on this

expert role in the world skills Leon

competition so on the first day of the

competition the competitors got an

illustrative design module where they

had to uh design an illustration

focusing on the silk fabric that

originates from Brazil to leyon so the

theme of the task was from Brazil to

leyon and they had to depict the entire

thing within a span of 6 hours which was

a great Challenge and you could see all

the outputs that were displayed across

and they seem to be pretty great and uh

today's module is based on editorial

where they need to create a booklet of

24 pages within a span of 6 hours again

and again as I said what takes uh weeks

and months in an industry to create

these Champions out there have to create

it within a span of 6 hours and that's

why job yeah it's it's a really

difficult job and hopefully we are in

the middle of the competition now and

hopefully they give a best output and

they're also happy about it thank you
