Transcripts
so this morning is like no other morning
in kl there's a massive gathering of
people literally hundreds if not
thousands of people
here in kl look at this and it's because
it is a national day
of
malaysian independence from the british
colony
you guys i've never seen this many
people on the streets of kl before so
this morning we woke up and we were like
oh where's the location of this place we
checked the youtube comments to see what
you guys have written and then we
realized we don't really need to check
online because there's literally people
everywhere so we're kind of just
following a crowd right now
but there's loads of people actually sat
on the top level of the buses here on
the side
they've already got a good spot to watch
the parade
we feel like a bit lost right now we're
not exactly sure where we're going
craziness i'm going to lose you don't
lose me me and oliver just hear one
phone so make sure you don't get lost
okay i see you people are making chains
like this and holding on to the whole
family in a little chain so maybe we
should be doing that
i feel like the crowd is uncontrollably
huge everyone's so excited right now
there's like
so many people i don't know how many
thousands but a lot of thousand people
look helicopters over there
they're flying with the flags
apparently there's an air show today as
well so we got to keep our eyes on the
sky too
some horses over there
and there's a lot of military people
stood like they're waiting for something
to happen
there's a lot of police a lot of fire
engines a lot of everything it was
actually really nice and cool this
morning when we were walking here and
now i'm absolutely sweating because
there's so many people yeah i feel just
because there's so many people in here
everyone seemed really excited i mean it
is a really big day for malaysian people
it is the independence i know how it
feels because we had the day as well
we were just trying to figure out which
is the best place because everyone is
here so i thought that that's why
there's no people anymore here as you
can see everyone's going we have to go
over there where you come from uh uk uk
yeah sorry
uh yorkshire
thank god that the local explain is that
the main parade is going to be somewhere
there so we're not going to miss it
let's go now everybody's rushing to go
down there everybody's going this way
i don't want to lose mario
[Music]
people right up there in that window and
i'm thinking
that's a damn good spot they got a good
spot up there so expectations of the
parade and then the reality
is just the backs of people's heads
we're trying to get all the way there
but it doesn't seem like we're gonna
make it
foreign
everyone's just trying to squeeze
through like the queue is going like
absolute baby steps like one step every
five minutes
everyone's trying to like get there
it's getting really hot now
wow
i'm sweating my ass off right now
finding yourself at the car
it's really hot you guys told us to come
early and uh we're not really mourning
people so we did wake up like half an
hour late and it was a big regret we
should have got up earlier for this
[Music]
oh
i wonder why is everybody coming from
there are we going there we're just like
is it not good there i don't know
i'm getting pushed from behind to go
forward inside
it's okay
happy national day
[Music]
i'm so envious for all the tall people
today yeah should have eaten more than
my mom said when i was little to be
taller right now paying the price now
right now i'm actually watching the
parade through other people's phones
because you can't actually see what's
going on there's a ninja in the crowd
he's literally climbing up the fence
we came here to do this only for you
guys this is really hectic it's
absolutely boiling we're getting pushed
all over the place and we also realized
that 92 percent of you aren't even
subscribed
hi uh
sort yourself out guys come on
i'm pretty squished right now people are
starting to push a lot
and i don't even have any
even slightly space right now
basically welcome to kovid central 101.
i'm gonna look at all the footage when
we get back home yeah we'll watch the
parade
very sorry no problem
[Music]
considering the amount of people that
are here
if there was an
apocalypse um this wouldn't go that very
well i'm gonna follow these guys
because they're leaving and it's kind of
a good idea because it's actually
getting really squished now to the point
where it's just not fun anymore
is it this busy every year
yeah like this every year but um
how many people are here do you think i
don't know
thousands
more
[Music]
yes
not here
that's crazy
we spent all our time trying to get to
the front and now the mission is to just
get out of here so let's go
these ladies are guiding us out we're
following them
i like to film everybody's feet
everybody's like
like little birds
don't make me laugh
i already can't breathe
[Music]
even though everybody absolutely
sweating and it's squished everybody
still seems pretty happy and in a good
mood everyone's kind of smiling and
having an absolute laugh
i wish someone had told us earlier when
we were walking back then it doesn't get
better yeah we're just we need to go up
front and then realizing that there's
just uh we get stuck even worse
[Music]
say hello to youtube
[Music]
it's going faster now it's
better know
if you see yourself in the crowd comment
below
this is gonna be someone right
okay we're moving now slowly happy
national day
oh there's a breeze oh do you feel that
breeze yeah starting to get a bit of
oxygen now it's so good
look stretch my arm out in space i can
turn around
that is so much better
i'm absolutely soaking wet
from that so how was your experience at
the parade mario the parade looks
actually really interesting everybody's
super excited problem is we came a
little bit too late and we're absolutely
stuck between the crowds over there
there's literally no way no matter how
much you walk and push there there's no
way you can go past that
we're pushing for over an hour and it's
just it was a waste of time but i think
where we are right now feels a bit
better there's like a bit more room and
oxygen and you can still kind of see a
little bit because the people are on top
of buses but if you have some drummers
or just performers you can't see them oh
it's the fire brigade
everybody loves and respects the fire
brigade
the girl earlier like maybe you heard
maybe you didn't but she said people
were coming here since 4 30 this morning
but yeah it was pretty crazy but
actually everybody's really in a good
mood there was not that much pushing
people are really respectful considering
the amount of people that are here
it hasn't nothing bad has happened so
far
okay
and the crazy thing no matter how pushed
is ready there everybody is still
smiling and in a good energy and good
mood so yeah it's pretty cool i mean
we're probably gonna get out of here for
a little bit just because we need some
oxygen and just hydration here somewhere
don't feel a bit claustrophobic and
stick in there
to get an idea of how hot it was in
there this is mario's t-shirt at the
bottom that's the sweat
and that's the dry part
we were wondering when the air show was
gonna start and now i think it's just
begun there's loads of helicopters in
the sky
all along here
so we can hear them but we can't see
them yet okay
yeah i think they were doing like tricks
and stuff it was like going like this
if you're like pretty intense sounds the
crazy thing is that like we would hear
these like airplane shows every single
morning when we were asleep like who the
hell is flying around here i see why
they were just practicing
so the air show just ended we saw like a
tiny bit of it there with these crazy
fighter jets doing like vertical dives
in the sky
uh it's pretty
mental to see that and it was so low to
the ground whoa look at that mario
helicopters
big like military
helicopters
pretty cool
[Music]
there's something else going on but i'm
not sure so just to you is where we were
stuck earlier and then just around the
corner there was like chairs and a big
screen where you could see everything
that was happening
a few people have left now so there's a
bit more space but like the diplomatic
people here uh
sort of like saluting everybody
you can kind of see the big screen from
here so
sitting behind a car there's not a good
shot i'm like i feel like i'm gonna
pass odds yeah
but right now everybody's just leaving i
think it's ended
so there was the parade since eight this
morning and then they had the
airplane show and it's just ended now
everybody's walking in that direction
and going home i guess i'll go for food
because it's starting to get hot as well
so i don't think you want to be out here
at the parade in this heat it's been a
really crazy hectic morning apparently
some of the people were here from 4 30
in the morning can you imagine yeah and
it starts at eight o'clock so that's a
long wait and they thinking it was an
average of 50 000 people which i
probably think was a little bit more
than that because to be honest i think i
can see that many people right now so
many people are like
spreading out now leaving and
it's just keep on going like this more
and more it stretches all along this
road over here so this is just like a
small snippet of the parade that we can
see right now all the locals are just
taking photos with the
military and the public services like
fire brigades and police
just to get a picture for the day
and commemorate the celebration
